Decibel has partnered with BitGo to provide institutional investors with a new channel for decentralized transactions
Decibel, a decentralized exchange (DEX) for spot and perpetual contracts built on the Aptos blockchain, today announced that institutional investors can now access the platform directly through BitGo's self-managed wallet.
Decentralized Exchange (DEX) is a trading platform that runs based on blockchain technology that allows users to trade digital assets without holding funds by a central intermediary. BitGo Holdings (NYSE: BTGO) is a digital asset infrastructure company that provides custody, wallet and trading services to institutional clients.
This integration uses the WalletConnect protocol, which allows users to link wallets to decentralized applications. This means BitGo customers can trade directly on Decibel without moving assets out of their original wallets or changing the approval process.
Keeping institutional compliance and control unchanged
Brylee Whatley, executive director of the Decibel Foundation, said: "Institutions have long been eager to enter the on-chain market. What hinders them is not a lack of interest, but the operational gap between where their assets are located and where the markets operate."
This integration aims to preserve the security and compliance layers already used by institutional customers. According to BitGo, existing controls, including address whitelists and multi-signature approval workflows, can be seamlessly extended to Decibel's transactions.
Abel Seow, BitGo's Asia Pacific sales director and managing director, pointed out: "Institutions should not choose between the controls needed and on-chain market access."
It is reported that the wallet connection will support Ethereum and Solana networks in the initial stage, and will gradually expand to other networks in the future.
Aptos as a settlement layer
Decibel is supported by the Aptos network. Aptos is a Layer 1 blockchain designed for high throughput and low latency, capable of quickly processing large numbers of transactions at extremely low cost and sub-second finality.
Solomon Tesfaye, chief commercial officer of Aptos Labs, said that as one of the core developers of the Aptos blockchain, he believes the integration signals that regulated institutional capital is ready to shift to the on-chain market on a large scale.
