XRPL Commons issued an urgent warning: Be wary of impostor fraud
Summary: XRPL Commons warned that criminals are posing as their representatives in an attempt to steal funds and sensitive wallet information from unsuspecting XRP Ledger users. Users should verify unexpected messages through official channels and never disclose private keys, mnemonics or bank information to strangers. Blocking and reporting suspicious accounts not only protects personal wallets, but also helps XRPL Commons warn the wider community of such impersonations.
Impersonator's methods and risks revealed
XRPL Commons reminds XRP Ledger users that scammers are disguising as members of the organization to steal funds and sensitive wallet data. According to XRPL Commons, fraudsters are increasingly contacting community members through unsolicited messages, pretending to represent their legitimate team. These deceptive accounts often copy the official brand logo, name, avatar and communication style to build a sense of trust and then approach potential victims. Their messages may promise investment opportunities, technical support, account verification, giveaways, or provide access to services related to the XRP ecosystem.
However, XRPL Commons clarified that its representatives would never proactively initiate private conversations requesting funds, bank details, private keys or mnemonics. Therefore, anyone who claims to represent the organization and makes such a request should be considered a potential fraudster and should report it immediately.
The private key and recovery phrase (seed phrase) provide full access to the cryptocurrency wallet and, once exposed, can be particularly dangerous for unsuspecting XRP holders. Once criminals obtain these credentials, they can transfer assets to other addresses without further permission from the wallet owner. In addition, blockchain transactions are often irreversible, resulting in limited options for affected users to recover assets transferred by fraudulent operators.
How to identify and report impostors
XRPL Commons recommends that users must verify unexpected messages through official channels before replying, opening attachments, or accessing provided links. Community members should carefully check account names, profile history, spelling changes, follower activity, and links associated with suspicious online profiles. Newly created accounts or changed user names may indicate that criminals have copied the identity of well-known organizations to mislead potential targets.
In addition, users should avoid interacting with suspected impostors, as further communication may reveal personal information or lead to more manipulation. Instead, the recipient should block the sender, report the account through the relevant platform, and notify XRPL Commons of this. Timely reporting helps the organization identify fraudulent files and alert other community members before scammers come into contact with more XRP holders.
We have noticed an increase in fraud attempts against our community.
XRPL Commons will never first send you a private message requesting money or financial information, nor will it ask for your bank details, private keys, or mnemonics.
If anyone claims to do this, it is not us.

Security Measures and Summary
If users have shared wallet credentials, they should immediately create another secure wallet and transfer any remaining assets as soon as possible. They should never reuse a damaged mnemonic because anyone who owns it can regain control of the associated cryptocurrency wallet.
Importantly, these scams rely on social engineering rather than weaknesses in the underlying blockchain technology or security architecture of XRP Ledger. Fraudsters use trust, urgency and familiar identities to persuade victims to hand over information they would normally protect from strangers.
Therefore, XRP holders should store recovery information offline and rely only on verified accounts when seeking assistance or organizing updates. The warning reiterates a basic security principle: Real representatives will never ask for confidential wallet credentials to provide support or resolve problems.
