Wirex uses Tempo as the settlement layer for corporate stablecoin cards

Wirex connects to Tempo to provide a new corporate card settlement method for fintech partners of stablecoin infrastructure providers

On September 10, Wirex announced that it has integrated Tempo into its platform. The move aims to provide fintech partners with a new way to settle corporate card projects.

Faster, more private settlement channels

Financial technology institutions that issue cards through Wirex can now settle transactions on Tempo's native stablecoin network. According to Wirex's announcement, this real-time integration allows card issuers to choose Tempo, a blockchain incubated by Stripe and designed specifically for stablecoin payments, as the preferred settlement layer.

Wirex has previously provided a single point of integrated services for regulated card issuance, wallet, compliance and stablecoin settlement, and as a key member of Visa and Mastercard, issues cards under its own license. Tempo's addition introduces a network specifically designed for stablecoin payments: the network has dedicated capacity to achieve final confirmations below seconds and predictable low rates; at the same time, the Tempo Zones feature ensures audit and compliance requirements while protecting the privacy of balances and transactions.

In addition, network fees are paid in stablecoins, eliminating the need for a separate Gas Token, and structured transaction data retains capital flows and settlement information on the same link, simplifying the reconciliation process.

Why did Wirex choose Tempo

Wirex said Tempo is more than just a settlement network. Stripe's incubation background brings it deep payment expertise, and its stablecoin consulting team and front-line deployment engineers can work directly with customers to assist in selecting infrastructure partners and advance from architectural design to production environment implementation. Tempo has cooperated with many companies such as DoorDash, Deel, Klarna, Felix and ARQ and has accumulated rich experience.

Daniel Rowlands, General Manager of Wirex, said: "We are pleased to provide Tempo as a key settlement layer for Wirex infrastructure integrated with the corporate stablecoin project. As a blockchain built specifically for large-scale stablecoin payments, Tempo provides our partners with fast, predictable and private settlement services."

The stablecoin-card business continues to heat up

This cooperation further expands Wirex's layout in the field of stablecoin-backed cards. Previously, Wirex had cooperated with Stellar and Visa to carry out on-chain card settlement and continued to expand stablecoin payment capabilities across chains. Wirex's infrastructure achieved annualized $1 billion in on-chain transactions in just 131 days after launch, and doubled that figure in the following 110 days.

Ani Narayan, Tempo's director of customer success, pointed out that this combination allows companies to "launch stablecoin-backed card projects," which combines Wirex's regulated card infrastructure with Tempo's settlement network and on-the-spot support. The two companies said they are working together to bring more fintech and corporate card projects to the network.
