APT Aptos main network activates Confidential APT, and users can choose asset privacy protection independently.
Aptos has launched the Confidential APT function on its main network, allowing users to privately encrypt the APT balance and transaction amount while keeping their wallet address publicly visible. The Aptos Foundation announced the official launch of this feature on September 18. The project had preliminary plans for this feature in a blog post several months ago, when it was stated that Confidential APT was still waiting for the software version release and governance vote.
Core Mechanism: Encrypted Amount and Zero-Knowledge Proof
Confidential APT is originally designed to hide the amount of APTs held by users or the amount transferred, rather than the identity of transaction participants. On the Aptos blockchain, the addresses of the sender and recipient are still clearly visible, but the specific transaction amount has been encrypted. Through zero-knowledge proof technology, verification nodes can confirm the legitimacy and validity of transactions without knowing the specific transfer amount or private balance.
This feature adopts the design concept of "fully voluntary participation". This means that users who want to keep their transactions fully transparent can still use the Aptos network's standard model. In addition, Aptos also provides a "selective disclosure" option that allows users to share specific transaction details or balance information with trusted third parties when necessary.
Application Scenario: Focus on Compensation and Fund Management
根据Aptos的文档说明，目前只有APT代币被允许在主网和测试网上进行机密转账。Aptos指出，该功能旨在支持那些需要避免公开敏感财务信息的场景，例如：
- 薪酬支付：在不公开薪资明细的情况下完成工资发放；
- 资金管理：在不暴露公司资金动向的前提下进行国库交易；
- 隐私支付：满足用户不希望其余额公开可见的需求。
Aptos将该功能定位为合规金融应用的一部分，同时保留了钱包地址的可见性，以平衡隐私保护与监管合规需求。
访问方式与未来展望
用户可以通过Petra Wallet（支持Android、iOS及浏览器扩展插件）以及Aptos Labs开发的Confidential Assets Web来访问Confidential APT功能。
此次上线标志着Aptos从3月份提出的机密交易提案转向了实际的主网应用，为原生APT代币增加了一层可选的隐私保护层，进一步丰富了网络的功能生态。
