Coinbase launches IPO stock subscription service for U.S. users
This week, Coinbase began providing U.S. customers with a channel to purchase initial public offering (IPO) stocks at the issue price, allowing investors to layout the stocks before they are officially traded on public exchanges.
The first target launched this time is smart ring manufacturer Oura. The company is offering 50 million shares on the Nasdaq market under the ticker symbol OURA, with an issue price range of $40 to $44 per share.
It should be noted that these are not tokenized versions, but real equity shares. Customers can complete purchases through the Coinbase app and are processed by Coinbase Capital Markets. The securities business unit is independent of the company's digital asset operations and has recently received regulatory approval to participate in such issuance activities.
In terms of operating procedures, customers need to first inject capital into their accounts, complete the Financial Supervisory Authority (FINRA) questionnaire screening on restricted identities, and then submit what Coinbase calls a "conditional purchase order."
