Blockchain.com applies for two licenses from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission
Blockchain.com, a blockchain data service provider, has formally submitted an application with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) seeking two key licenses. The move aims to enable it to provide predictive market products and cryptocurrency derivative services to U.S. customers.
Specific content of application
One application is a "Designated Contract Market"(DCM) license. After obtaining the license, the company will be allowed to operate a futures exchange for event contracts. Another application is for a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) license, which would allow the company to conduct business as a derivatives broker.
Target Customers and Progress
The company plans to serve both retail and institutional investors. At present, the company has not announced the specific launch date, and the above two licenses have not yet been finally approved.
