Key Points
Fee generation is still out of proportion to market valuation
Understanding the value accumulation problem
The NEAR Intentions platform has contributed to more than US$23 billion in transaction volume, covering more than 30 blockchain networks
Compared with major competitors such as Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain, NEAR's DeFi ecosystem is still immature
Token inflation has dropped significantly from 5% per year to approximately 2.5%
Daily fee generation remains negligible, Token valuation is highly dependent on speculation on future adoption
There is a disconnect between product ecosystem expansion and NEAR token actual value accumulation
Overview of the NEAR protocol
The NEAR protocol is a proof-of-stake blockchain network designed to support smart contract functions and decentralized applications. The project was co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov, both of whom have extensive experience in developing artificial intelligence and distributed computing systems.
NEAR Price Status
Currently, the platform regards "chain abstraction" as its main strategic direction. This approach is designed to allow users to achieve seamless multi-chain interactions without having to deal with cross-chain bridges, manage multiple Gas tokens, or operate different wallet infrastructures. NEAR's technology handles these complexities in the background. This strategic positioning provides NEAR with a more differentiated market advantage compared to many Layer 1 competitors, which mainly emphasize transaction throughput or cost efficiency.
The TD Sequential indicator accurately predicted NEAR's last round of movements: after the sell signal was issued on July 21, the price fell 8.34%. Now, the indicator has turned into a buy signal, signaling a possible rebound.
Core Highlights of the NEAR Ecosystem
The most eye-catching feature in NEAR's current ecosystem is NEAR Intention. The system allows users to specify desired transaction outcomes (such as exchanging tokens on Ethereum for assets on Solana), while market makers provide optimal prices through competitive execution. According to official data, the Intentions platform has processed more than US$23 billion in transaction volume. The infrastructure runs on more than 30 different blockchain networks, supports the transaction of more than 100 digital assets, and integrates with mainstream cryptocurrency wallets and platforms. These indicators show real product adoption and are particularly prominent among many cryptocurrency projects that are still at the theoretical level.
Fee generation is still out of proportion to market valuation
NEAR's main chain infrastructure processes hundreds of thousands of transactions every day and has tens of thousands of daily active users. However, its decentralized financial ecosystem lags significantly behind Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain in terms of size and activity. The total locked value of the DeFi protocol on NEAR and the volume of stablecoins in circulation account for only a small fraction of the network's multi-billion dollar market value. In addition, daily transaction fee income remains negligible, indicating that current token prices mainly reflect speculative expectations for future expansion rather than current economic activity. Although this model is common in emerging blockchain platforms, it also sets a high threshold for NEAR to demonstrate its ability to continue value creation.
Improvements in token economics
From a token economics perspective, NEAR has implemented some meaningful improvements. The annual token issuance rate has dropped from 5% of circulation supply to approximately 2.5%. In addition, some network fees will be destroyed, forming a deflation mechanism to hedge inflation. However, the current cost generation is still not enough to cause significant deflationary pressure on the destruction mechanism. Token holders who choose not to pledge assets will face gradual dilution as newly minted tokens enter circulation.
Understanding the problem of value accumulation
The core question facing NEAR investors is: Can ecosystem expansion translate into increased demand for tokens? The NEAR Intentions platform can continue to expand, but it will not necessarily bring proportional demand for NEAR tokens. Transaction fees on the NEAR network are inherently low, and revenue from other services may flow to ecological partners, liquidity providers or development funds rather than directly benefiting token holders. This structure can lead to a potential mismatch between product market success and token appreciation. If the revenue mechanism is redesigned to channel more value to NEAR token repurchase, destruction program or pledge rewards through a transparent and systematic process, the investment logic will be significantly enhanced. The current situation presents a paradox: NEAR has contributed to US$23 billion in cross-chain transaction volume through its Intentions infrastructure, while its total DeFi locked value only accounts for a small portion of the overall market value.
