Bitcoin ETF reversed trend, with capital inflows of US$101 million and BTC approaching US$78,000

The US spot bitcoin ETF returned to positive growth on September 2 with net inflows of $101.1 million

Bitcoin rebounded from its intraday low to rise above $77,700. The day's flows were in stark contrast to Sept. 1, when the funds suffered a net outflow of $236.5 million. Although Wednesday's inflow failed to fully offset the previous day's losses, fresh buying suggests institutional demand remains resilient after the sell-off at the start of the month.

BlackRock IBIT led gains as grayscale fund performance diverged

BlackRock's IBIT led the recovery with net inflows of $115.4 million. Bitwise's BITB increased $4.2 million, while MSBT attracted $7.3 million. BTC funds with lower gray rates also recorded inflows of $30.4 million. However, these gains were partially offset by a $56.2 million outflow from Gray's flagship product GBTC. The remaining funds tracked did not show any net flow changes on the day.

Bitcoin rebounds from 24-hour low

Bitcoin traded at around $77,759 early Thursday, up 0.25% in the past 24 hours. Behind the relatively modest daily gains, cryptocurrencies have experienced greater volatility. Bitcoin fell to the range of around $76,500 earlier in the day, then rebounded above $77,000 and pushed further to around $78,000. During the rebound, BTC hit a high of about $77,900 and then stabilized at around $77,759.

Price movements suggest buyers are willing to step in after a decline, while the return to positive growth in ETF flows provides another signal that demand exists near current prices. Entering September, ETF capital flows fluctuated particularly violently. After attracting $216.7 million on Aug. 31, the fund turned to an outflow of $236.5 million on September 1, before rebounding with an inflow of $101.1 million on Wednesday.

The next test for Bitcoin will be whether ETF demand can remain positive and help cryptocurrencies achieve a more solid breakthrough above the $78,000 region. Continued inflows could support another rally, while institutional sell-off could make it easy for Bitcoin to test its recent lows again.
