Aptos has destroyed 159,600 APTs in the past 30 days, and the cumulative destruction of the main network has reached 1.8 million.

According to data from the Aptos Foundation, the Aptos network has destroyed 159,600 APT tokens in the past 30 days. Since its independent online launch, the cumulative destruction volume has reached 1.8 million pieces. As the effects of comprehensive token economics reform gradually emerge, the current annual destruction rate of the network is approximately 1.9 million APTs.

Core content of token economics reform

Proposal 183 passed in March 2026 introduced three key changes: setting a rigid supply cap of 2.1 billion APTs, achieving 100% transaction fee destruction, and reducing pledge rewards from 5.19% annualized to approximately 2.6%. At present, these three measures have been officially launched.

Although transaction fees have been increased tenfold, the cost of a single basic transaction remains at around US$0.00014. This mechanism not only ensures that the actual cost of use by users is extremely low, but also promotes the destruction of more tokens by increasing the total fee transaction volume. Before the implementation of the proposal, there was no upper limit on the total supply of APT tokens; now, this rigid upper limit has been established, and if the upper limit is to be adjusted in the future, a new round of community governance voting must be passed.

The voting results showed an overwhelming advantage: 335.2 million APTs were in favor, only 1,500 against, and the participation rate reached 39%, exceeding the legal minimum participation threshold of 35%. In addition, the foundation will permanently lock in 210 million APT tokens. Future incentive mechanisms will shift to mileway-triggered models, while project parties are considering launching a programmatic repurchase plan.

Decibel DEX: A new engine for mass destruction

Real large-scale destruction of catalysts is still ahead. Aptos full-chain perpetual contract decentralized exchange (DEX) Decibel will be launched in February 2026. All orders, matchmaking and cancellation operations are completed on the chain, resulting in huge transaction volume. After large-scale operations, Decibel expects to destroy more than 32 million APTs each year.

The logic behind this is clear: the more market markets Decibel supports and the more product types, the higher the operational throughput required. As Decibel reaches or exceeds 100 markets, more than 32 million APTs are expected to be destroyed each year. As system throughput expands to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) or even higher, the destruction rate will also increase significantly accordingly.

These changes aim to transform the network from a model that relied on inflation subsidies in the early stages of growth to a model where supply is declining and the scale of destruction matches actual network activity. Specifically, it is expected that starting from 2027, the supply pressure on APT tokens will decrease substantially.
