The European Central Bank officially joins XRPL technology
The biggest structural story this week may be the least obvious. On September 21, according to a press release from the European Central Bank (ECB), the ECB officially launched Pontes, a new Eurosystem service that allows wholesale tokenized asset transactions to be settled in the central bank's currency. Only four market infrastructures were selected for the first launch list: Clearstream, SWIAT, Cashlink and Axiology. Axiology's website lists XRP Ledger directly under its technology stack, and the company's description of the Pontes launch confirms it is one of four infrastructures currently online, a statement that first surfaced in the ECB's Pontes document and the ECB's exploratory work appendix.

Ripple was involved in assisting with the launch of Axiology in 2023, and three years later, the same company's technology is now located on one of the first infrastructures to connect to the European Central Bank's real-time tokenized settlement system. This does not mean that the ECB directly uses the token itself, but it does mean that the ledger technology developed by Ripple affiliates is now connected to the official euro system settlement infrastructure, an important milestone for the ecosystem's institutional credibility.
So, is this rally just beginning?
To be honest, a single-day increase of nearly 7% combined with a weekly movement of 23.4% is a big deal in itself. But this rebound is not without reason. Futures deleveraging, a booming native stablecoin economy, aggressive whale buying accompanying the growth of new wallets, and central banks 'access to ledger technology associated with the ecosystem are all converging in the same direction at the same time.
