Rivian shares fell about 0.5% in pre-market trading on Wednesday. The company recalled 98,828 vehicles in the United States because of camera malfunctions. This defect may hinder the display of some rear cameras during reversing operations. Rivian has deployed free over-the-air (OTA) software patches. This pure software solution significantly reduces the potential financial consequences compared to replacing physical components.

Rivian (RIFN) shares fell about 0.5% in pre-market trading on Wednesday to close at around $15.07, compared with Tuesday's close of $15.14. Before the recall was announced, the stock had fallen 1.4% on Tuesday.

Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian discovered that when the driver put into reverse gear, a certain notification element could block parts of the rear camera picture, so it recalled 98,828 vehicles in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the flaw could damage rear vision and increase the risk of a collision.

This recall covers R1S models (2022 to 2027 models), R1T vehicles from 2022 to 2026 models, and R2 variants from 2027 models.
