Ethereum performed better than Bitcoin, and the recent decline in the ETH/BTC exchange rate narrowed
This week, Ether's 24-hour gain was better than Bitcoin, narrowing the recent downward trend in the ETH/BTC exchange rate. Although Bitcoin prices fell below the $77,000 mark again, Ethereum showed stronger relative strength.
Core developers are initially scheduled to activate the Glamstam upgrade on the Sepolia test network on October 6.
Ethereum core developers have initially confirmed that they will activate the "Glamstam" upgrade on the public Sepolia test network on October 6. This is the first time that the upgrade's complete changeset is running on a network accessible to anyone, rather than previously only in a closed, developer-only test environment.
However, this date comes with an important prerequisite: it clearly depends on the smooth operation of "devnet-10". Devnet-10 is the last round of internal testing before any publicly available activation is locked up. If devnet-10 exposes a problem that needs to be fixed, Sepolia's activation date will be delayed. This is normal when Ethereum releases a major upgrade and does not indicate that there is a specific problem with Glamstam itself, but it means that October 6 is a target date rather than an unchangeable promise.
Technical significance and market signals of Glamestead upgrade
The Glamsburg upgrade includes a series of changes designed to further expand the size of the network and adjust the pricing mechanism for certain operations for validators and users. Upgrades of this size usually require rigorous testing by multiple test nets. As one of the most widely used test nets, Sepolia's successful deployment is an important milestone in the upgrade process, but it is still in the early stage of directly touching the main network.
For timeline holders and developers, the actual revelation lies not in the specific date, but in the signal it sends: Even if the changes carried are more complex and massive than earlier hard forks, Ethereum's core development process can still reach internal testing milestones at a roughly predictable pace. Given that Ethereum's competitive position relies heavily on delivering capacity expansion improvements on the planning schedules of other Layer-1 and Layer-2 ecosystems, this predictability has become a focus of market attention.
Combining price differences with the Testnet timeline, this week provides a rare case in which Ethereum's market behavior tells a similar story to its development calendar: Ethereum shows resilience in fighting Bitcoin trends while continuing to advance the execution of its multi-year upgrade path.
