XRP The surge in Xaman users has caused XRPL node capacity issues, and the fix is advancing
Xaman, a self-managed wallet created by XRPL Labs for XRP Ledger and Xahau Networks, is growing so fast that it has caused actual infrastructure bottlenecks. This wallet, formerly known as Xumm, is currently putting quantifiable pressure on the carrying capacity of XRPL nodes. It is reported that related repair solutions are already under development.
Pressure mechanism behind user growth
Annual review data shows that the number of active users is approximately 735,000, an increase of 45.8% from the previous period. In addition, independent indicators for 2024 show that the number of active users exceeds 600,000, and the platform has recorded hundreds of millions of internal interactions during its life cycle.
The mechanism for causing this stress is straightforward: every new Xaman account needs to be activated on the ledger, and a basic reserve of 1XRP is required to maintain the account. The base reserve is the minimum XRP amount required for each address on the ledger. Although the reserved XRP cannot be sent to others, some funds can be recovered by deleting the account. At the scale Xaman currently reaches, these mandatory activation needs are rapidly accumulating.
The surge in the number of accounts has caused the system to approach the efficient processing limit of some XRPL nodes, which has temporarily disrupted the push notification service.
Fix coming soon
The fix for this capacity issue appears to be a more targeted response that could bypass the formal amendment process or run on a shorter timeline.
