此次中断始于周六。根据该协议的账户信息，一次单区块的以太坊重组移除了 THORChain 已经记入的一笔10枚以太坊的存款。当交换未能满足其价格限制时，THORChain 对其金库从未收到的资金发出了退款指令。与此同时，发送者的实际存款也被退还，导致额外支付了10枚以太坊，从而触发了自动暂停机制。

随后，节点操作员暂停了多个网络上的交易，等待开发者进行调查。此外，区块链分析公司 Chainalysis 表示，此次暂停也干扰了试图转移被盗资金的行动。该公司指出，由于黑客攻击事件涉及金额高达63亿美元，此次意外暂停间接延缓了朝鲜黑客的洗钱进程。
