Bitcoin prices stand firm above $78,000, key whale movements and technical support emerge
Despite continued selling pressure on the market, Bitcoin prices remain a focus and continue to trade above $78,000. The resilience of digital assets in this range has attracted widespread attention, with analysts pointing out that several key technology areas may play a central role in shaping their next move.
Analysis of Key Support and Resistance Levels
In the latest trading, Bitcoin fell 1.31% and traded at approximately US$78,174. The market value of the cryptocurrency remains at around US$1.57 trillion, with daily trading volume reaching US$32.02 billion. Currently, Bitcoin's market share is 59.02%.
Technical analysis shows that Bitcoin has rebounded by about 30% in the past few weeks, recovering from its decline at the beginning of the year. The analysis identified support areas for $75,674 and $71,781, while the main resistance level was around $82,793.
Cryptocurrency analyst Crypto Patel emphasized that the US$76,400 - 76,600 range is a key support range for Bitcoin. After testing this level, Bitcoin showed early signs of a bullish reversal, with $78,430 marked as a near-term upside target.
Analysts said that failure to maintain above $76,400 could open the door to further downside risks. Recent volatility has highlighted the importance of maintaining these levels of support to a sustained recovery trend.
Gold Crosses and broader technology structures
Bitcoin's technical outlook has been boosted as it forms a "golden cross" pattern-where its 50-day moving average crosses above its 200-day average. The signal was seen as Bitcoin's first gold cross since May 2025, rekindling optimism about the prospects for a long-term rebound.
While this indicator is generally considered bullish, market analysts warn that given that Bitcoin remains below several major resistance thresholds, it cannot guarantee sustained gains.
Explanation of terms: Golden Cross, a technical indicator signal that means that the short-term moving average crosses the long-term moving average and is usually interpreted as a sign that the asset price trend has turned bullish.
Giant whale activity predicts potential market movements
In terms of market activity, blockchain analyst firm Arkham reported a large amount of activity on a major Bitcoin giant whale. The investor transferred $461.5 million worth of BTC from Coinbase nearly two years ago and has been holding core positions. During this period, its profit on positions peaked at approximately US$315 million.
Arkham observed that although the giant whale's position faced a loss of about US$100 million at its July low, its profits have now recovered to about US$40 million as the market fluctuated violently. In addition, the giant whale transferred $82 million in BTC to the exchange Kraken in August, while still holding approximately $418 million in Bitcoin.
Such large transfers to exchanges often lead to speculation because deposits can signal subsequent sales. However, the transaction itself does not confirm that any bitcoins have been sold. The whale's continued balance shows that despite sharp price fluctuations, its confidence in Bitcoin remains firm.
Short-term outlook and long-term goals
Market analysts are closely watching the support range of US$76,400 - 76,600, describing it as a key to the short-term price trajectory of Bitcoin. If it stays above this range, Bitcoin is expected to recover $78,430 and eventually push towards higher resistance levels of $80,000 and $82,793.
A continued breakthrough above $82,793 will improve recovery prospects and pave the way for a possible rebound towards $90,000. Market observers also pointed out that $71,781 is an important level to maintain long-term bullish views.
While forecasts of Bitcoin reaching $1 million remain a topic of discussion, analysts suggest that this goal reflects a long-term vision rather than a short-term goal. Bitcoin's next direction will largely depend on its performance in these key areas of support and resistance.
Bitcoin's price recovery may continue as institutional demand grows, but failure to hold key technical levels could trigger a new round of downward pressure before any long-term rebound occurs.
