Blockstream refuses extortion, Liquid's Bitcoin gets 85% support

Blockstream refused to pay ransom, calling the Liquid network breach theft rather than responsible disclosure.

Bitcoin infrastructure company Blockstream made it clear that it would not pay ransoms to those behind the scenes to recover funds still under its control. The company pointed out that the conduct was theft rather than responsible disclosure of loopholes.

Blockstream said in a statement on Friday: "Obtaining assets without authorization and withholding their return is a criminal act, not responsible disclosure. This is not a white hat act, but theft."
