In institutional escrow services, customers 'bitcoins can be reallocated between different addresses. Factors such as adjustments to cold and hot wallet balances, updates to security policies, address consolidation operations or operational liquidity management may all lead to such transfers. According to reports, FATCOM treats the bitcoins it receives from customers as fungible assets at the operational level and redistributes them between its own escrow addresses when necessary. Therefore, the large outflow on the blockchain alone cannot prove a transfer of economic ownership.

Rational view of on-chain data

As of now, Strategy has not issued a separate sale notice on the details of these transactions. Unless the company's recently publicly disclosed reserve data changes, it would be inaccurate to define these transfers as definite sales. This incident once again proves that interpreting on-chain activity without checking target addresses and hosting structures can be misleading.
