Binance Bitcoin outflows hit a three-year high, whales increase their holdings of stablecoins

Binance experienced significant capital outflows: 23,000 bitcoins were withdrawn, and a large amount of stablecoins flowed into

According to CryptoQuant data, Binance's net outflows of bitcoins reached 23,137 in the week ended September 27. This is the largest weekly net outflow since June 2023. Since September 20, the exchange's bitcoin reserves have dropped by nearly 40,000 coins.

Meanwhile, large holders are moving more stablecoins to exchanges. Data showed that from August 15 to the end of September, the rolling 30-day net inflow of currency into stablecoins increased from US$21.7 billion to US$30.5 billion, an increase of 40%. This phenomenon shows the characteristics of "Bitcoin leaves the market and cash enters the market."

The implications behind the data

Falling exchange balances usually mean that the holder is transferring the token to self-custody or long-term storage. CryptoQuant believes that extracting Bitcoin from a widely used platform like Binance is a medium-and long-term investment behavior, and this trend is interpreted as "accumulation." The last time comparable occurred in June 2023, when Binance's balance dropped by 44,942 bitcoins. In the following week, Bitcoin prices rose from $26,300 to $30,500, setting a 12-month high. That period is the period when the market recovers from the bear market in 2022.

stablecoins on exchanges are regarded as "dry powder", that is, cash waiting to buy cryptocurrencies. The increase in stablecoin balances in whale accounts suggests that market interest in increasing exposure to crypto assets is growing.

Bitcoin Trend Review

Looking back at history, Bitcoin hit a record high of US$126,080 on October 6, 2025, exactly one year ago. The subsequent decline was not triggered by a single factor, and prices fell to around $60,000 in February of the following year, and hit that range again in June.

The amount of stablecoins injected by whales into Binance follows a similar path. At a peak in October 2025, inflows exceeded US$61 billion, and then gradually subsided during a long downturn. The recent recovery is the first time that this trend has been continuously reversed.

The rebound began in mid-August. The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it would double its repurchases of long-term treasury bonds, which investors interpreted as positive support for the bond market. Since then, the repurchase scale has tripled. Bitcoin rose 43% in the third quarter, its best quarterly performance since 2017, and returned to $87,000 in mid-September for the first time in eight months.

Current Price Position

Currently, Bitcoin is trading at approximately US$85,500, approximately 32% below its historical high. Since September 21, prices have remained in the range of $82,500 to $87,400. The opening price of US$87,570 at the beginning of 2026 was slightly above this range, constituting resistance.

CryptoQuant pointed out that continued outflows combined with weakening selling pressure may push Bitcoin to quickly break through this range. But this is just a forecast, not an established trend. Glassnode data shows that compared to mid-September, the current upward momentum is not strong, and profit-taking is still active, especially above $85,000.

Macro background

Interest rates remain the main obstacle. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates in September. The 10-year U.S. bond yield is close to 5.31%, and the 30-year U.S. bond yield is close to 5.67%, both close to 24-year highs. Delphi Digital points out that a risk-free return of more than 5% makes all risky assets work harder to attract capital.

Recent data have relieved some of the pressure. The United States added only 29,000 jobs in September, well below the expected 80,000. The CME FedWatch tool shows that the probability of a rate hike in October has dropped to around 24%, compared with above 75% a week ago. The next Fed meeting is scheduled for October 28, and minutes of the September meeting will be released on Wednesday.

Institutional needs show a mixed trend. The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF absorbed approximately $293 million in two trading days, but flowed out of $89.9 million on Monday. Since its peak, cumulative net inflows into ETFs have fallen from US$61.3 billion to US$57.7 billion, a drop of 5.8%.

Reasons for caution

Comparison with June 2023 has limitations. Outflows this week were only half of what was recorded at the time. In addition, the interest rate level in 2023 is much lower than the current level of around 5%.

Exchange outflows do not directly prove accumulation. Tokens may be transferred between wallets controlled by the same owner, and some withdrawals reflect changes in custody rather than new purchases. Binance is only one of many exchanges, and its capital flows are not representative of the entire market.

The inflow of stablecoins has a dual interpretation: whales may be ready to buy or they may be ready to trade in both directions. Its 30-day net inflow of US$30.5 billion is still only about half of its October 2025 peak.

Follow-up Focus

If the daily closing price exceeds US$87,570, the main resistance level will be cleared and the accumulation theory will be verified. If it falls below $82,500, it means that the range breaks and the cumulative logic will be weakened. Bond yields and the Fed's rhetoric could determine the direction of the market.

Cycle analysts point out that the fourth quarter is usually the traditional formation period for bear market bottoms, roughly a year after the highs. Binance's outflow data is the first evidence of large-scale buying on the chain in months. Prices, ETF flows and yields will ultimately confirm whether this trend holds true.
