Gate Europe launches new user reward event to fight Binance EU service restrictions
As European cryptocurrency exchanges compete to attract users, Gate Europe has launched new user activities that comply with MiCA regulatory requirements. The move comes as Binance will restrict some EU services starting July 1.
This event is open to eligible new Gate Europe users and provides rewards for registration, first recharge and first spot transaction. During the event, the first 2000 qualified users who complete account registration will receive a transaction fee rebate of 10 USDC.
Gate Europe also offers a token reward of 15 USDC to users who complete a net recharge equivalent of at least 100 USDC (supporting any asset). The recharge methods include on-chain recharge, fiat recharge and over-the-counter transactions, but internal transfers are not included. In addition, users who complete at least 100 USDC equivalent spot trading volume will receive an additional 10 USDC first-time trading reward.
Gate Technology Ltd has obtained the qualification of a crypto asset service provider authorized by the Financial Services Authority of Malta under MiCA regulations. This allows Gate Europe to have a compliant EU operating path under the MiCA framework, while Binance users are facing issues such as access rights, account migration and service continuity before the end of the transition period.
Licensed exchanges compete for Binance users
The event brought Gate Europe, along with Coinbase and OKX, to join the battle against European users affected by Binance license vacancies. Previously, Coinbase and OKX had launched MiCA deadline incentives, and Binance was preparing to restrict some EU services because it did not obtain relevant licenses.
OKX\'s European user activity has also increased. Erald Ghoos, OKX Europe CEO, said the exchange had a record number of new customers ahead of the deadline, making the July 1 deadline a window to authorize exchanges to obtain customers directly. This user migration trend has been reflected in the accelerated growth of OKX registrations in Europe.
Timing is crucial. MiCA\'s transition period will end on July 1, 2026, when crypto asset service providers must operate through authorized EU entities to continue to provide services to users across the EU. Platforms that are not authorized will face service restrictions, user opt-out plans, or country-specific access restrictions.
Binance has told users in multiple European markets that it will not be able to accept new registrations and restrict some services due to its inability to obtain MiCA licenses before the deadline. Binance emphasizes that user assets remain safe and accessible, but licensing gaps still provide compliant competitors with a short window to compete for deposits, accounts and trading activity.
The coin security gap translates regulatory compliance into user gain advantages
Binance has withdrawn its MiCA application in Greece and plans to seek authorization through other EU member states. Previously, Greece\'s MiCA application was one of the important ways for Binance to maintain uninterrupted EU services before the deadline.
Gate Europe\'s reward campaign shows that licensed exchanges are turning regulatory compliance into a marketing tool. This event not only provides recharge rewards, but also guides new users through the complete registration process: account registration, identity verification, fund recharge and first spot transaction.
This process design is critical because user migration is not done just by opening an account. European traders will still need to verify identity, transfer assets, test fiat or online recharge, and confirm that the legal entity holding their accounts has been authorized by MiCA.
Gate Europe\'s activities are only open to eligible users, and the reward quota for each task is limited to the top 2000 participants. Binance\'s EU restrictions will take effect on July 1, and Gate Europe, Coinbase and OKX have used MiCA authorization and registration rewards to compete for users before the deadline.
