Hoskinson calls on the Cardano community to complete key upgrades, with ADA falling 41% in 2026

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson calls on the platform community to complete key development and governance milestones, emphasizing that Cardano must "complete what we have started" before entering the next stage of growth.

Focus on roadmap deliverables

Hoskinson's remarks came as the Cardano Constitutional Council voting mechanism is being updated-a core element of the platform's decentralized governance. He emphasized the need to implement key functions, especially Leios extensibility protocol upgrades and related hard forks, which are seen as the basis for future network expansion.

The Cardano community has approved a governance structure that requires the Constitutional Council to maintain at least five members. The committee has the power to approve upgrades, including upcoming constitutional amendments to Leios.

Hoskinson pointed out that platforms must achieve their basic goals and strengthen governance to ensure continued network growth. He described it as realizing Cardano's "last mile of governance."

RealFi and Bitcoin DeFi attract capital

Hoskinsen highlighted the progress of the Cardano ecosystem, pointing out that the RealFi protocol is strong and the growing interest in Bitcoin DeFi integration. Forecasts show that RealFi could bring billions of dollars in total lock-in value (TVL) to the network in the next few years.

He revealed that the Pogun Bitcoin DeFi project, part of Cardano's broader DeFi strategy, has received an initial financing commitment of US$600 million.

(Note: RealFi stands for "on-the-ground finance", which refers to deploying decentralized financial protocols that interact with real-world assets to provide loan or revenue generation solutions backed by tangible value, rather than relying solely on digital assets.)

The Pogun project is expected to promote further growth in the online DeFi ecosystem, and the industry is optimistic about its ability to expand Cardano's influence in decentralized finance.

ADA price performance and market position

Despite these developments, Cardano's ADA tokens will perform poorly in 2026. Since January, ADA has fallen 40.71%, falling out of the top ten cryptocurrencies by market value. The network ranks 36th in TVL among DeFi platforms.

Meanwhile, competing networks such as Solana have fallen less this year, about 18%, and have benefited from spot ETF products that Cardano does not yet own. The lack of ADA ETFs is seen as a major obstacle to institutional investment.

ADA is currently trading at around US$0.20, down 94% from its September 2021 high of nearly US$3.

Market analysts predict potential gains

Market analyst Ali Charts identified ADA buy signals through the Tom Demark series of indicators on the daily chart. Historical data from the tool shows that previous signals have been accompanied by significant rebounds, including a 44.5% increase on June 25 this year, an 11.5% increase on July 15, and a 50.9% increase on August 18.

(Note: The Tom DeMark Series Indicator is a technical analysis tool used to identify potential trend reversals based on financial market price patterns.)

The Tom DeMark series of indicators has shown new buy signals from the ADA, which previously occurred in June, July and August, marking the beginning of a significant rally.

Hoskinson remains optimistic about Cardano's prospects and insists the network is "not yet out of the game." Leios scalability upgrades and RealFi platform deployments are both planned later this year.
