World's prediction market platform is open to more than one million users and has created more than 150,000 markets
World has opened its independent Solana prediction market platform to more than 1 million users on the waiting list after its independent website was launched. Previously, the platform has successfully created more than 150,000 markets through Phantom Wallet integration.
Core Highlights
- More than 1 million waiting list users can now access World through a separate website.
- The market covers sports, cryptocurrency, politics, finance, economy and culture, and the total number has exceeded 150,000.
- Chainlink Data Streams and its Runtime Environment provide market data and enable automatic contract settlement.
- World plans to further launch stocks, commodities and weather markets after the initial release.
Direct market access: From Phantom to independent platforms
World announced on September 9 that world.xyz has now opened direct market trading rights to more than 1 million waiting list users. The move marks that the service is no longer limited to the Phantom Wallet ecosystem that has been operating since July.
The initial market launch covers all NFL regular season games, seven football leagues and F1 events. In addition, contracts related to the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, as well as the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy decision-making contracts, have also been launched, allowing political and economic events to be displayed side by side with sports and crypto asset markets.
Each market offers two "Yes" and "No" contracts, with a price range between $0 and $1. The contract price reflects the market's assessment of the probability of a particular event occurring. After the final result is determined, the winning contract will be settled to $1, while the losing contract will be zeroed and lapsed.
Users use CASH, a U.S. dollar stablecoin used within Phantom, for settlement. As a non-escrow agreement, World does not hold customer funds, and orders are processed by liquidity providers operating on the Solana network. Unlike traditional brokers or centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, World does not require users to open brokerage accounts or register for exchanges. However, Phantom users still need to hold enough funds to pay Solana Network Gas fees when opening or closing positions.
In fact, before the launch of the independent website, World's services already supported position management through Phantom. According to the company, users have opened positions through this forecast market service since June 1, 2026, and wallet integration was officially publicly available in July of the same year.
Currently, the platform has not disclosed first-day trading volume, open contract volume or fee structure. Due to the lack of these data, its initial share of forecast market activity cannot be compared to mature platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket.
Chainlink Automation Supports Market Settlement
World uses Chainlink Data Streams and Chainlink Runtime Environment to obtain market data and automate settlement. Once a match ends or other specified event deadlines are reached, the system determines the outcome and settles the associated contract.
This automated data mechanism eliminates the need for manual settlement teams or token holders to vote. World pointed out that older oracle designs could include dispute periods, delaying settlement, while its Chainlink-based architecture is designed to quickly process results from defined data sources.
Johann Eid, chief commercial officer of Chainlink Labs, attributed the World's waiting list size of more than one million users to growing demand for building forecasts on Solana. Eid said Chainlink provides the data and infrastructure needed to quickly and efficiently address market needs.
Similar models have precedents in this field. In May of this year, Myriad integrated Chainlink Data Streams and Runtime Environment to automate the creation, settlement and clearing of markets linked to BTC, ETH, BNB and SOL. Myriad also announced plans to expand its services to stocks, commodities and other real-world assets. This case shows how Chainlink infrastructure coordinates external data with on-chain settlements without relying on a single human decision-maker.
For World, the system supports various contracts settled through different methods. The sports market needs to verify the final score, the Federal Reserve contract relies on official policy decisions, and the electoral market needs to confirm the results based on predetermined settlement rules.
Solana maintains liquidity within the chain
Ramzy Ali, head of DeFi at the Solana Foundation, said World has introduced another type of tradable product to the network while retaining its liquidity within Solana's on-chain economic system.
Ali described the platform as "bringing new asset classes to Solana and keeping 100% liquidity on the chain." World routes orders to Solana's liquidity providers rather than managing transactions through off-chain order books controlled by the platform. According to the announcement, this arrangement allows capital invested in its market to remain within the Solana network.
The launch of independent platforms has also made World part of a growing group of prediction market providers that are competing for retail user activity. Data showed that the industry-wide forecast market size of Kalshi, Polymarket and their US platforms hit a record high of US$50.59 billion in July. Of this, Kalshi contributed US$37.7 billion, while Polymarket's international and U.S. platforms combined generated US$12.9 billion. It should be noted that these numbers represent nominal trading volume rather than deposits or exchange revenue, as contracts may change hands multiple times before settlement.
World does not provide comparable turnover data compared to the more than 150,000 markets it created. The market numbers it discloses only measures the number of contracts launched, not the transaction amount or the number of active users.
Users can access the service through world.xyz and Phantom on iOS, Android and desktop. Phantom stated that the forecast market is only available in supported jurisdictions, although a list of availability by country was not provided in the release statement.
U.S. access is restricted by local regulations
World's inclusion of NFL games and the 2026 midterm elections has given its platform a direct link to U.S. events, but listing U.S. events does not mean that all U.S. users can trade.
In the United States, access to forecast markets remains subject to disputes between federal derivatives regulations and state gambling laws. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulates designated contract markets, while multiple state authorities believe sports and election contracts may fall under their respective gaming regulations.
In September this year, Kalshi's ruling was divided in the federal appeals court. The Third Circuit allowed the injunction protecting Kalshi from New Jersey enforcement to remain in effect, while the Ninth Circuit allowed Nevada regulators to enforce state gaming requirements while the lawsuit lasted. Subsequently, New Jersey asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review whether the Commodity Exchange Act prevented states from applying sports betting laws to event contracts listed on exchanges regulated by the CFTC. But this does not mean that the Supreme Court has agreed to accept the dispute.
World has not stated that it operates a CFTC registered exchange, nor has it clearly stated which contracts are available to U.S. residents. As a result, jurisdictional notification remains crucial for U.S. users considering participating in markets related to sports, elections, or Fed decision-making.
Future Outlook
After completing the deployment of independent platforms, World plans to add stock ups and downs contracts. There are also plans to launch commodity markets covering gold, silver, oil, natural gas and computing power, followed by weather contracts linked to major cities.
