Ondo and OpenMarkets join forces to enter Australia capital markets

Ondo Finance has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Australia financial services provider OpenMarkets Group, marking the company's official entry into one of the most mature capital markets in the Asia Pacific region. The two parties will discuss providing Ondo's tokenized financial products to Australia investors.

Preliminary work will focus on distributing some Ondo products by OpenMarkets, subject to regulatory requirements and approval, and developing new products that may include tokenization of Australia listed securities and access to offshore tokenization markets. OpenMarkets is a participant on the Australia Stock Exchange (ASX), Cboe and NSX, and holds an Australia Financial Services Licence (AFSL). The group has also registered on the AUSTRAC Virtual Asset Service Provider Register, which it said laid the foundation for its involvement in tokenized products.

Gateway to the global chain economy

Min Lin, global business development director at Ondo Finance, said that Australia is the natural next step for the company's global expansion, and OpenMarkets brings deep local market expertise and mature financial infrastructure. The two companies aim to connect one of the most complex capital markets in the Asia-Pacific region to the global on-chain economy.

Dan Jowett, CEO of OpenMarkets, pointed out that the combination of Ondo's technology platform and OpenMarkets 'local market expertise is expected to create an attractive tokenized product that attracts local investors.

The deal reflects the growing interest of global institutions in tokenizing real-world assets. According to predictions cited by OpenMarkets, by 2030, the global tokenized asset market could reach US$16 trillion.

Ondo defines itself as a blockchain technology company focused on tokenizing real-world assets and listing financial products. This Australia partnership has expanded Ondo's international influence, allowing its footprint to surpass that of the United States. At the same time, the arrangement further promotes OpenMarkets 'expansion into digital assets in its brokerage, clearing, clearing and wealth management businesses.
