S&P Global strategically invests in Kaiko to deepen the layout of digital asset market data
S&P Global announced on September 14 that it has made a strategic investment in Kaiko, a provider of digital asset market data and indices. The move expanded Kaiko's total Series B financing to US$110 million. According to an official statement, the investment was completed through S&P Global Ventures, further demonstrating the financial data and index giant's commitment to digital assets and on-chain markets.
Expand Strategic Partnership
Series B-2 financing builds on the existing cooperation between S&P Global and Kaiko in data, indices and on-chain infrastructure. In March 2026, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kaiko tokenized the iBoxX Treasury Index and released it on the blockchain. The companies said this marks the first time that major index providers have offered financial benchmarks as native digital assets. In early September, the two companies integrated their crypto index capabilities into a co-branded "S&P Kaiko Digital Asset Index" suite, specifically tailored for the global 24/7 digital asset market.
The investment comes as Kaiko is expanding its global reach by acquiring encrypted data providers Amberdata and Cometh. Currently, Kaiko has provided services to more than 250 financial institutions, companies and regulatory agencies around the world.
Executive Views
Cathy Clay, CEO of Standard Dow Jones Indices, said: "As digital assets accelerate, S&P Global is investing in the future-an investment that highlights our strong belief." She described Kaiko's data as "fundamental transparency for the digital asset ecosystem" and noted that it can transform complex transactions and on-chain activities into reliable intelligence that can be used for decision-making.
Kaiko CEO Ambre Soubiran called the investment "a strong endorsement of Kaiko's mission and an important affirmation of the role trusted data and data infrastructure will play in the tokenized market."
Institutional data for on-chain markets
Kaiko was founded in 2014 to provide institutional market data, analysis and indices for tokenized and traditional markets, supporting trading, valuation and risk management. Previously, the company further deepened its institutional influence in the field of derivatives data by partnering with derivatives standards body ISDA.
This cooperation with S&P follows a series of digital asset "firsts" by the data giant, including the industry's first stablecoin stability assessment, the first DeFi protocol credit rating, and the authorization of the S & P 500 Index for tokenized funds and ETFs. The new investment positioning allows Kaiko to serve institutional customers migrating up the chain, which the company believes is a critical period for the development of the industry.
