Good morning! Today's highlights are as follows:
Kevin O'Leary calls for Bitcoin to reach US$1 million with preconditions
Kevin O'Leary attended the Avalanche Summit with an US$11 million Otani Shohei baseball card around his neck. The card is enclosed by Tiffany and set with 110-carat diamonds. He used it to explain his views on tokenization and explained in subsequent interviews why Bitcoin was expected to reach a price of $1 million-provided that the industry had to solve a problem that did not currently exist.
His prerequisite for this is "Q-Day", the day when quantum computers can forge signatures to protect all Bitcoin wallets. No such machine currently exists, and estimates of its emergence will not vary from the early 2030s to forever. O'Reilly said it is this uncertainty that has led large funds to limit their exposure to Bitcoin to around 3%, treating it as a small portion of gold rather than a core position. If Bitcoin developers can dispel such doubts, this cap will be broken.
A greater reversal of opinion occurs on Ethereum. Eighteen months ago, his argument was that owning Bitcoin and Ethereum would capture 97% of the upside in cryptocurrencies because everyone would standardize on using Ethereum. Now he says the situation has not developed as expected and believes it will not be the case in the future. He pointed out that Ethereum is not fast enough and secure enough, emphasizing that this is his personal opinion. He believes the entire industry will choose its own chain, and the first blockchain adopted for tokenization by major exchanges will have associated token prices soaring as it becomes the infrastructure for every transaction.
Of course, this interview was very timely. Last week, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved its innovation exemption clause for tokenized stocks, and the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is evaluating Avalanche as a clearing layer for a trading system being developed by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). O'Reilly positioned cryptocurrency as the twelfth largest sector in the S & P 500 because it serves eleven other sectors.
