Crossmint launches stablecoin recharge channel covering more than 160 countries
On September 2, Crossmint launched a stablecoin recharge channel (onramp) service. The company said the service is available in more than 160 countries. According to the announcement, fintech apps can allow users to recharge their wallets through Apple Pay, Google Pay or payment cards without having to jump to other interfaces. Crossmint positions the product as an integrated portal that connects its wallet and stablecoin infrastructure.
Crossmint keeps the fund recharge process inside the application
This new recharge channel can be embedded through Crossmint components or can be deployed headlessly through an application programming interface (API). The company said that no matter which method is used, the recharge process will always stay within the financial technology application. This design aims to reduce the number of links that may be interrupted by interface jumps when users first recharge their wallet.
Crossmint stated that authentication is based on risk levels and adjusted based on applicable requirements in each market. Its announcement does not provide country-specific acceptance rates, transaction fees or settlement times, so the term "broad coverage" should not be understood to mean that the same terms of service are available in every jurisdiction.
Payment support depends on local authorization
In the European Economic Area, Crossmint stated that its European entities have been authorized as crypto asset service providers under the Cryptographic Asset Markets Regulation (MiCA) and authorized as payment institutions under the Second Edition of the Payment Services Directive (PSD2). In other regions, the company said recharge channels are supported by appropriately authorized Crossmint entities or licensed local partners.
The provider also stated that it is responsible for customer identification (KYC), sanctions screening, anti-money laundering screening, wallet screening and applicable travel rule obligations. Regarding card transactions, Crossmint said it is responsible for handling disputes and assumes refund responsibilities. These are the company's descriptions of its operating model and are not an independent assessment of regulatory coverage.
This release expands Crossmint's stablecoin product stack
This recharge channel is parallel to Crossmint's embedded wallets, stablecoin arrangements, withdrawal channels and card products. Crossmint said dozens of financial technology companies and consumer applications already use its recharge infrastructure, and mentioned MoneyGram, Wirex and Tala as part of the more than 40,000 companies and developers it serves.
Previously, there have been reports about the integration of Crossmint and Paga, mainly focusing on mobile money and stablecoin access in Africa. This new product is broader: It provides developers with one-time integration to recharge through cards and digital wallets in all markets supported by Crossmint.
Coverage does not equal uniform availability
This specific development is Crossmint's launch of its own recharge channel, rather than a new stablecoin or blockchain network. Availability still depends on local regulations, licensed partners and the payment methods supported in each market. Crossmint did not disclose transaction volume or user conversion rate data at launch, so its adoption and actual performance are subject to evaluation after launch.
