Chainlink data sources launch Tempo blockchain

Tempo announced on Thursday that its payment-focused blockchain now supports Chainlink data sources. This integration allows development teams to connect real-time price data directly to applications for collateral valuations, foreign exchange rate comparisons, and risk control settings without having to build their own oracle infrastructure.

Layer 1 blockchain specifically built for payments

Tempo is a Layer 1 blockchain focused on payments incubated by Stripe and Paradigm. Designed specifically for stablecoins and real-world payments, it combines Stripe's experience in global payments with Paradigm's expertise in encryption technology. The chain launched its main network in March, moving its stablecoin payment system from the testing stage to practical application. One of its most prominent design features is that there are no native Gas tokens-there are no native volatility tokens on Tempo, the network allows participants to pay fees using supported stablecoins such as USDC, while on-chain verification remains permissive.

Payment chains for institutional scale

To ensure that Tempo can meet a wide range of needs, its initial design partners include Anthropic, Coupang, Deutsche Bank, DoorDash, Lead Bank, Mercury, Nubank, OpenAI, Revolut, Shopify, Standard Chartered Bank, Visa, etc. The network is designed to handle high-throughput, low-cost stablecoin transactions and has a built-in machine payment protocol that allows software and AI agents to pay for services autonomously.

The value provided by Chainlink data sources

The Chainlink data source provides trusted market data that supports DeFi, tokenized assets and global on-chain finance. Its services cover market data for multiple asset classes such as crypto assets, commodities, foreign exchange and indices. For Tempo developers, this new feature removes an important technical hurdle: teams can directly use field-tested price data without having to build or maintain their own oracle infrastructure.

As part of its Oracle and cross-chain interoperability service extensions, Chainlink has also deployed new integrations on Creditcoin, Neo X, Tempo, Ink, and Robinhood Chain. Whether this move brings sustained user growth will depend on developer adoption as the Tempo ecosystem matures.
