Hunter Biden set foot in the cryptocurrency market, turning the "laptop" controversy into tokens
Recently, Hunter Biden, son of former US President Joe Biden, announced his entry into the cryptocurrency market. The move brings the "laptop door" incident that sparked heated debate before the 2020 U.S. presidential election into the world of encryption.
As the controversy surrounding the Memecoin called "LAPTOP" continues to simmer, Hunter Biden today responded to criticism of the token's listing. He posted a post on the X platform, explaining for the first time the purpose of launching the LAPTOP token, saying that he converted a symbol that had been used to attack him into a token. Biden also pointed out that users should not expect him or anyone to artificially push up the value of the token, emphasizing that LAPTOP is not only a holdable digital asset, but also carries certain information.
"They turned the laptop into a weapon, I turned it into a token."
"You should not expect me or anyone else to make this token more valuable to you. LAPTOP is not just about having something, it's about expressing a position."
In this context, Hunter Biden said that LAPTON should not only be regarded as a financial investment, but that the token also carries a political and cultural significance.
Hunter Biden mentions Trump and his TRUMP tokens
When talking about notebooks, Hunter Biden also indirectly mentioned the tokens issued by U.S. President Donald Trump and his family. In response, Biden criticized Trump's memein and other cryptocurrency projects, believing that Trump pursued personal gain through these measures, and accused him of using memein to ignore trust and moral principles. Biden claimed that his own LAPTOP project would take a different path and demonstrated this through the actual use of tokens.
"Trump undermines trust in everything he touches. But my token won't do that."
"With Trump's project, nearly a million wallets lost approximately $3.8 billion. And 20% of my token supply will be airdropped to the community, even those who have suffered losses in the TRUMP project."
LAPTOP will be launched on the Base Network
Biden said that the total supply of LAPTOP is set at 1 billion tokens and is scheduled to be launched on September 9, 2026 on the Base Network developed by Coinbase. He also added that the contract and allocation model of the token on the Base network have been announced on the project's official website.
The specific supply allocation plan is as follows:
- 20% for community airdrops
- 30% owned by founding team
- 30% is used for prediction mechanisms based on real events
- 10% to provide liquidity
- 5% deposited in the foundation treasury
- 5% for direct charity
One of the most eye-catching aspects of the LAPTOP project is its airdrop mechanism. 20% of the total supply will be distributed to community members. Of this, 2% is set aside for investors who have suffered losses in Donald Trump's TRUMP memecoin, and another 8% is planned to be allocated to subscriptions to Hunter Biden's "Where's Hunter?" Readers of Substack Newsletter. The remaining 10% will be distributed later.
