Uniswap Labs develops a new Hook to reward liquidity providers with OUSD
Uniswap Labs is developing a new Hook (hook) for Uniswap v4 that aims to issue OUSD rewards to liquidity providers of eligible stablecoin trading pairs. OUSD is a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar issued by Open Standard. This move marks a further deepening of Uniswap's deployment in the field of programmable liquidity incentives. At the same time, competition among decentralized exchanges for stablecoin trading volume is becoming increasingly fierce.
Mechanism for OUSD reward hooks
Hooks is an extensible architecture in Uniswap v4 that allows custom logic to be run during pool events such as trading and liquidity position changes. Traditionally, liquidity providers on Uniswap have relied mainly on transaction fees incurred by their positions to generate revenue. The new Hook changes this model by embedding reward allocation directly into the pool itself.
OUSD Rewards Hook will leverage the system to provide Open Standard incentives to liquidity providers in eligible pools. Its allocation logic is built into the pool mechanism rather than relying on independent reward plans superimposed on the top. The measure mainly targets trading pairs involving stablecoins. Uniswap Labs is working with Open Standard to build an integration to simplify the incentive allocation process directly within the agreement.
The project is still in the early planning stages, and Uniswap Labs has not announced the specific launch date of the OUSD reward mechanism, nor has it announced which trading pairs will be eligible.
OUSD: Emerging stablecoin with strong background support
This exploration of Hook coincides with the release of OUSD itself. OUSD is issued by Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure company affiliated with Stripe. Its reserves are held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and Bank of New York Mellon (BNY).
Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa invested as the company's top five founding partners, each receiving equal initial equity shares. The group has committed more than US$1 billion to help build liquidity in OUSD.
OUSD runs natively on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo networks, and will be open for trading on Coinbase, Kraken and Uniswap for the first time. OUSD always casts and redemes U.S. dollars on a 1:1 ratio, and is free of handling fees regardless of size.
Unlike traditional stablecoin issuers retaining reserve earnings, Open Standard disrupts the existing stablecoin model: partners receive a corresponding proportion of rewards based on their platform-driven capital supply and activity, and can obtain equity in the company.
OUSD Hook is not the only recent development of Uniswap in the stablecoin space. Previously, Uniswap v4 launched StablePair Hook in September 2026, introducing a dynamic fee mechanism for stablecoin transactions.
