Key insight

The price of the TRUMP token fell after Trump denied managing or monitoring the coin. After recovering in August, prices are still below three Fibonacci resistance levels. Futures trading volume exceeds spot trading volume, reflecting frequent high-leverage activities.

On September 4, U.S. President Donald Trump distanced himself from the TRUMP token in a speech. He stated that he neither operated nor paid attention to the token. At this point its price fell and traders reassessed resistance levels after a rebound in August.

When asked about the token, Trump said he did not operate it and did not focus on it. He added that he was told that the token was selling well. The remarks clarified his claimed operational role while retaining the project's documented licensing and associated ownership structure.

TRUMP tokens fell during trading hours, but the decline cannot be attributed solely to Trump's remarks. The transfer of tokens to exchanges, broader market conditions and increased derivatives activity have also affected the trading environment.

TRUMP token price fell after Trump's remarks

CoinMarketCap data showed that the token price was US$2.26, down 5.61% in 24 hours. The dataset ranks it as the 74th listed crypto assets. The decline followed a recovery in August from sharp fluctuations near the $1.36 level.

Source: CoinMarketCap TradingView 1-day price chart shows that the opening price on September 4 was $2.3878. The price hit $2.45 and fell to $2.10 before finally closing around $2.2692. The session recorded a 5.05% decline, confirming that sellers controlled the daily close.

CoinGecko priced the asset at approximately $2.27. Its data showed a daily decline of 5.40%, and a weekly decline of 12.40%. CoinGecko also recorded a turnover of approximately $339.9 million and a market value of $594.2 million.

There are slight differences between the two pricing datasets because providers use different exchange coverage and data update times. Still, both show that the meme token price has weakened after its recent recovery. No dataset establishes Trump's remarks as a direct cause of the decline.

TRUMP tokens face resistance above US$2.52

The TradingView chart provided marks Fibonacci resistance levels at US$2.5257, US$2.8042, and US$3.1454. Prices traded below each level after failing to maintain intraday gains. Based on a 78.6% retracement, the most recent marked support is around $1.8601.

On the broader daily chart, the market structure remains weak. The token fell from a peak above $9 at the end of 2025. It then reached a low around $1.36, then rebounded to near $3.00 in August.

The rally failed to break past the chart's reference high of $3.6969. The price fell back below $2.2527 (61.8% retracement level) during the trading session. If it closes firmly above $2.5257, the short-term structure will improve; if it fails, it may expose lower support levels.

These levels describe chart conditions rather than guaranteed target prices. Thin liquidity and highly leveraged positions can cause prices to exceed the marked area. Traders should seek close confirmation before viewing any Fibonacci level as support or resistance.

Derivatives show highly leveraged activity

CoinGlass data shows that open futures contract positions are approximately US$203.4 million. The platform also recorded approximately $711 million in 24-hour futures trading volume. Spot turnover was approximately US$145.6 million.

As a result, futures trading volume is almost five times that of spot trading volume. This ratio suggests active leveraged trading, although it itself does not reveal clear directional bias. Open interest also accounts for approximately one-third of the token's reported market value.

CoinGlass summarizes perpetual and delivery contracts from multiple exchanges. As traders open, close or forcibly close positions, their data may change rapidly. Before reaching directional conclusions, investors should compare open interest contracts with funding rates and balance data.

DefiLlama data provides supply-side indicators. It lists the number of tokens in circulation as 261.88 million, with a maximum supply of 1 billion. Its allocation dashboard shows that insiders hold 72.2% of the current allocation.

Official disclosures complicate Trump's denial

Trump said: "I don't run it," adding that he doesn't pay attention to it. He also said he was told that the token was "selling well." Asia One News released video footage of the September 4 exchange.

The project's official website states that CIC Digital LLC and Fight LLC are the main holders. The two entities jointly own 80% of the allocated tokens under a three-year plan, the website said. CIC Digital is an affiliated company of the Trump Organization.

Official terms stipulate that Fight Fight, CIC Digital or their affiliates can dispose of the tokens they hold. These sales can be made through pre-announced plans or independent trustees. The terms also recognize the possible conflict of interest between associated holders and token buyers.

The project's privacy disclosure statement states that Celebration Cards has been granted the right to use Trump's name, portrait and image. It also said Trump and his organization did not distribute or sell the product. These disclosures support the distinction between individual operations and authorized brands.

Traders currently face recent closing resistance of $2.5257 and marked support of $1.8601. The next date catalyst for the project is the September 30 Coin Club snapshot. Its official page stated that the number of positions held will determine the ranking of October activities.
