DOGE Musk promised to send dogcoin to the moon, and now there is a specific date.
As early as 2021, Elon Musk promised to send dogcoin (DOGE) to the moon. This commitment finally reaches a specific time point: the DOGE-1 CubeStar mission carried out by SpaceX is scheduled to be launched on September 14, nine days later.
This satellite is fully funded by dogcoin payments. The flight, called the DOGE-1 Lunar Mission, will be supported by SpaceX and driven by Dogecoin.
In addition, Musk has previously hinted that he plans to place a physical dogcoin on the lunar surface in 2027. However, the September 14 launch will be the main catalyst in the near term. According to Decibel data, DOGE's current trading price is close to US$0.084, down about 88% from the all-time high of US$0.74 set in May 2021.
Analysis of the Musk Effect in the History of Dogecoin
Looking back on the past, Musk's influence on the price of Dogecoin shows a regular pattern worthy of attention.
In April 2019, Musk posted on social media that Dogecoin might be his favorite cryptocurrency. In the following days, the price of the memin quickly rose from $0.0025 to $0.0040.
However, Musk's participation in the Saturday Night Live (SNL) program in May 2021 became a warning case. Although the price of Dogecoin soared to near a historical high of $0.7316 during the recording of the show when Musk called it a "scam," the price of the token has never returned to that level since then.
By November 2024, Musk was appointed head of the government efficiency department, which is also abbreviated as "DOGE." The news pushed the price of Dogecoin from US$0.20 to US$0.48 in a few days.
Current Situation Outlook
At present, the DOGE-1 mission is the clearest catalyst for Dogecoin among Musk's related factors: it is no longer a tweet or a TV appearance, but a rocket launch with a fixed date.
