Interest rate statement alleviates investor concerns
On September 3, 2026, as Bitcoin climbed again above $81,000, the market value of the crypto market increased by more than $112 billion. The trend followed a decline in U.S. Treasury yields and was driven by comments by Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller.
Waller said that if inflation continues to cool, he may support keeping interest rates unchanged at the Fed's September meeting. His remarks at an event hosted by Reuters eased investors 'concerns about another rate hike.
After Waller's speech, US Treasury yields fell and the US dollar also weakened against other currencies. Lower yields often prompt investors to turn to assets such as cryptocurrencies, as safer interest-bearing investments become less attractive. At the same time, the weakening U.S. dollar makes it cheaper for buyers using other currencies to buy Bitcoin, potentially boosting overseas demand.
This reaction goes beyond the scope of the crypto market. On the day, U.S. stocks and stocks related to digital assets also generally rose. This suggests that demand for riskier assets is increasing not only in the crypto market, but in multiple other markets.
Bitcoin led the market rally
Bitcoin rose 4.91% from the day's opening price of approximately US$77,307 to hit US$81,100 intraday. The intraday high reached around $81,392, before prices fell slightly.
The total market value of the crypto market rose 4.35% to US$2.7 trillion, and the overall market value increased by approximately US$112.4 billion. Excluding stablecoins, the total market value rose 5.05% to US$2.42 trillion.
Bitcoin price performance on CoinGecko
Currently, Bitcoin is approaching the range of US$82,000 to US$82,500. In the past few weeks, this level has been a difficulty in breaking through. If we can successfully break through this range, it may open up room for further growth. Traders are keeping a close eye on the area.
The chart shows that market buying activity has increased. The momentum of Bitcoin and the entire crypto market has entered a high range. This does not mean that prices will inevitably fall back from here, but consolidation is also possible after such a sharp one-day increase.
As of the latest update at 21:30 Eastern Time on September 3, Bitcoin remains above US$81,000. The broader market retained most of the gains earlier in the day.
