Coinbase CEO predicts that Bitcoin could reach US$400,000 by 2030

Optimistic expectations are based on historical cycles

In an interview with CNBC on September 10, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that reaching the price of Bitcoin to US$400,000 by 2030 is a "reasonable goal." Achieving this milestone would require Bitcoin to rise approximately 420% from its current trading level of approximately $76,930.

Armstrong's optimistic forecast relies heavily on Bitcoin's established four-year cycle model. He emphasized that downturns usually last about a year, and the current adjustment has just crossed this time threshold. "Most downturns last for about a year, and we have actually just passed the one-year point of this downturn, so I personally believe that Bitcoin has formed a bottom in this cycle." Armstrong said.

Key catalysts and long-term bullish factors

Armstrong also highlighted two key upcoming catalysts that market participants are watching closely: the CLARITY Act is scheduled for a procedural Senate vote on September 15, and the next Bitcoin halving event is expected to occur in 18 to 19 months.

The Coinbase executive listed several factors supporting his long-term bullish view: increased demand for ETFs, expected White House intervention by regulators, and a rigid Bitcoin supply cap of 21 million coins. Armstrong further stated that there is a high possibility that Bitcoin will recover its $100,000 price before the end of 2026.

It is worth noting that compared with the previous forecast that Bitcoin will reach US$1 million in 2030, this forecast of US$400,000 is more conservative.

Market analyst: The next 1.6 years may be an explosion period

Market analyst Jesse Myers predicted future performance by analyzing the halving pattern in Bitcoin's history. His research showed that Bitcoin rose about 100 times after halving in 2012, 30 times after 2016, and 8 times after 2020, and then market participants began to look forward to the events of 2024.

Myers wrote: "If this cycle repeats the same pattern, the next 1.6 years could be Bitcoin's most explosive period." His model shows that Bitcoin will reach $232,000 when it halves in April 2028 and $464,000 by the end of 2029.

Binance founder CZ is optimistic about the bull market potential

Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ) also expressed his views on this. He believes that Bitcoin may surpass gold in the next bull market. "The market provides you with a lot of opportunities to enter, and you just need to make the right decisions." CZ said on Thursday.

Bitcoin ETF data reveals potential weakness

Institutional costs become key resistance level

Blockchain analysis platform Glassnode observed that the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF has returned to near break-even point, and institutional acquisition costs are now a key resistance level.

Data shows that in the week ending September 4, ETF products attracted inflows of US$986.9 million, continuing the momentum of a total inflow of approximately US$3.8 billion for three consecutive weeks. However, there was a net outflow of $166.9 million this week, which could end the positive momentum if this trend continues.

Market sentiment and future outlook

According to Polymarket data, 64% of forecast market participants believe that Bitcoin will reach US$85,000 by December 31, 2026.
