X also seeks at least £ 75,000 to cover the cost of investigations, analytical work, remedial measures and preventive measures. The platform asserts that certain collection accounts associated with the network contain false information and that shared devices, cookies, software applications and other digital identifiers link these network parts together.
The legal grounds cited include misrepresentation, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, knowledge of receiving illegal funds, and conspiracy through illegal means. X is seeking the full refund or restitution of the disputed funds, compensatory damages, accrued interest and legal fees.
Platform transitions to a new creator compensation model
X deactivated the disputed account on August 18 after detecting it characterized it as organized creator income fraud. The platform stopped accepting new registrations for "creator revenue sharing" on August 7, and terminated all revenue under the program on September 7. X began implementing its successor's "Original Content Reward Plan" on September 8.
The revised compensation framework calculates payments based on the number of qualified impressions that premium subscribers view original content. The program's guidelines specifically state that fraudulent, purchased, promoted or synthesized displays are not eligible. Repeatedly posted posts, reuploaded multimedia files, and content that provides little original value are also not eligible for compensation.
