Bitcoin fell below the US$85,000 mark as institutional buying failed to reverse the decline

Bitcoin fell below US$85,000 on Monday despite significant buying activity in major corporate vaults. Three well-known companies-Strategy, Metaplan and Strive-announced the purchase of a total of 3,334 new bitcoins. The fall in prices highlights a growing rift between institutional buying and short-term market sentiment, as selling pressure continues to outweigh new inflows from large holders.

Corporate buying cannot stop the downward trend

Strategy disclosed that it purchased 334 bitcoins at an average price of US$85,838.80 between October 1 and October 4, with a total investment of US$28.7 million. Currently, the company holds 848,000 bitcoins, with a total value of approximately US$63.97 billion based on average acquisition costs. Strategy's latest acquisition is already at a loss with Bitcoin falling below $85,000, further underscoring the challenges companies face in offsetting the overall market sell-off.

Strategy said in its filing: "Strategy increased its Bitcoin position to 848,000 at an acquisition cost of approximately US$63.97 billion. However, falling below $85,000 puts its latest purchases into negative yield territory."

Meanwhile, Japanese company Metaplanet disclosed major Bitcoin vault developments in its third quarter. The company sold 10,000 bitcoins and subsequently bought back 11,000 bitcoins, resulting in a net increase of 1,000 bitcoins in its investment portfolio. The move brought Metaplanet's total open position to 44,000 and continued the company's continued accumulation strategy that began earlier this year.

Metaplanet's strategy is to take advantage of market volatility by actively managing its positions, and this quarter's latest activity is consistent with its stated intention to pursue more Bitcoin exposure during periods of price volatility.

Strive becomes the largest new buyer

Among the three companies, Strive is the most recent main buyer. It announced that it had accumulated 2,000 bitcoins between September 28 and October 2, with an average price of $84,422 per coin. The total investment is approximately US$169 million. Currently, Strive holds 29,462 bitcoins, making it one of the largest listed bitcoin vaults by transaction volume.

Strive has been increasing Bitcoin purchases during periods of weak market conditions. The company's previous acquisitions also came after a significant correction in cryptocurrency prices, suggesting it was adopting a strategy of accumulating more exposure during the downturn.

Despite large purchases by institutional vaults including these three companies (totaling 3,334 bitcoins), Bitcoin slipped below $85,000 after encountering new resistance at around $87,000, indicating that corporate demand alone is not enough to drive a sustainable rebound in the current market.

Meme token market highlights the importance of monitoring investor activities

As price fluctuations and corporate moves make headlines, the importance of accurately monitoring market trends and investor actions has become increasingly important. In a fast-changing field like meme tokens, a viral web trend can quickly translate into millions of dollars in transaction volume. The latest data from the Fomo App shows that a $99 "Niu Lai" mushroom token trade quickly ballooned to approximately $370,000, highlighting the huge profit potential for traders who pay close attention to token selection and timing.

To meet the need for real-time insights, the Fomo App combines token discovery and execution with social feeds, investor ranking systems, and timely notification of major transactions. The platform is designed to enable investors to keep pace with rapid changes and emerging opportunities in the meme token space, where focusing on price movements and user behavior is critical to success.
