Visa survey shows that if bank-level fraud protection and deposit insurance are available, the willingness to use U.S. stablecoins will rise to 56%.

A study released by Visa on Wednesday showed that if stablecoins can provide bank-level fraud protection and deposit insurance, more than half of U.S. consumers expressed their willingness to use it. Specific data shows that in the absence of these safeguards, 36% are willing to use stablecoins; in the absence of safeguards, this proportion rises to 56%.

It should be noted that the above safeguard measures are only hypothetical scenarios. Visa made it clear in its report that there are currently no stablecoins that provide deposit insurance. However, the same scenario has aroused higher interest in Latin America, with a willingness to use it as high as 74%.

Fraud risks profoundly affect remittance behavior

This report, titled "Money Travels 2026," is based on a survey of 2,192 adults in the United States conducted by Morning Consult from February 24 to March 2. The survey covered 45,445 people in 20 markets around the world and focused on cross-border remittances.

The

Survey shows that nearly two-thirds of Americans (64%) believe that trust in payment methods depends more on the provider than on the technology itself. When stablecoin services are provided by existing financial institutions, Americans 'willingness to use them increases to 45%. Traditional banks and global payment networks are the most trusted digital currency service providers, with trust levels of 61% and 60%, respectively. The global trust rate is 69%.

Visa

Visa pointed out that the proportion of stablecoins in global cross-border capital flows is growing. According to DefiLlama data, the total amount of U.S. dollar stablecoins currently in circulation is approximately US$312 billion, of which Tether's USDT accounts for US$184 billion and Circle's USDC accounts for US$76 billion.
