- 金融机构与数字平台之间的深度合作;
- 资金的跨境流动;
MoonPay is actively applying for the licenses needed to operate in South Korea, including registration as a virtual asset service provider. Services involving the deposit and withdrawal of Korean won must meet domestic requirements such as real-name authentication accounts. Customer identification, payment, settlement and customer protection responsibilities will be divided between MoonPay and its South Korean financial partners, and the system will adapt to local security and operating standards.
FinTech partner Finger is expected to provide some technical connectivity between MoonPay and South Korean financial institutions. MoonPay plans to interface its wallet, conversion and payment APIs and "Wallet as a Service" technology with domestic banking and card systems. This setting will meet the requirements of South Korea's financial industry, covering anti-money laundering control, customer identification, abnormal transaction detection, Access Management, security review and system failure response.
Specific division of labor and testing of partners
KB Financial Group: KB Kookmin Bank will work with MoonPay to inspect deposit and deposit infrastructure, wallets, stablecoin issuance and distribution, and overseas remittance and settlement services. KB Kookmin Card focuses on the payment field. The two sides plan to test a model that allows foreign tourists to use digital assets such as stablecoins in South Korean merchants, and conduct a proof-of-concept work to examine the connectivity, security, convenience and commercial feasibility of the system.
Woori Bank: Woori Bank's role focuses on combining its Won-based financial infrastructure with MoonPay's international distribution and payment network. If South Korean won stablecoins are issued, MoonPay will connect its wallets and deposit and deposit networks, allowing overseas Koreans, students and tourists to acquire, hold and exchange these assets outside South Korea. In addition, the two companies also plan to test inter-company payments, combining Woori's remittance infrastructure with MoonPay's digital asset network to examine overseas payments by Korean companies and payments by foreign companies to South Korea.
KakaoBank: KakaoBank is working with MoonPay to build a different cross-border remittance structure that aims to connect Korean remittance applications with overseas bank accounts in a single transaction process. For example, KakaoBank can process student remittance applications, screening, currency conversions and transfers in South Korea, while MoonPay receives digital assets overseas, converts them into U.S. dollars, and deposits them into local U.S. bank accounts. "Our goal is to complete the process within an hour," said Choi Han-kyul, South Korea strategy director at MoonPay.
Regulatory Environment and Development Prospects
MoonPay's plan was prepared at a time when South Korea's second phase of digital asset legislation has not yet been fully completed. The Korea Financial Commission expects that the review of the Digital Assets Framework Act will enter the Parliamentary Bill Review Subcommittee in November. The stablecoin rules remain part of the legislation, including issues such as who can issue won denominated coins and how issuers are regulated.
