Trump personally introduced Ripple CEO at the White House Crypto Summit, triggering heated discussions in the community.
Cryptocurrency commentator Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) today released a video within the White House, which attracted widespread attention from XRP and the cryptocurrency community. In the video, U.S. President Trump personally introduced Ripple CEO Brad Garinhaus at the Crypto Summit on August 19 and thanked him after the introduction.
How did the community react?
Several community members expressed their views on this. Some commentators joked that the CEO seemed to be hiding in the room because he didn't take a step forward when he was named, and found this move very interesting. Another member expressed joy and was proud that Garinhaus could appear in such a high-profile government event. Some netizens expressed their gratitude to President Trump, and others predicted that XRP would "fly to the moon." However, not everyone is positive. One observer pointed out that Galinhaus did not speak when he was given the opportunity to speak, which he thought was worrying and questioned what substantive results the summit could bring to XRP holders.
The Summit and Its Significance for XRP
The president's introduction was more than a symbolic move. Garlinhouse sat with SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, Treasury Secretary Scott Besant and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. In addition, traditional financial giants such as Nasdaq, New York Stock Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and DTCC also sent representatives to attend the meeting.
This summit is the kick-off meeting of the CFTC's newly established Innovation Advisory Committee. The committee consists of 35 members, including Ripple, Coinbase, a16z, Chainlink and Kalshi. The committee will hold its first public meeting tomorrow (August 20) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST, with an agenda focusing on the evolution of cryptocurrency regulation.
The CLARITY Act is also in the dark. The bill stalled before its August recess amid controversy over issues such as stablecoin earnings rules, congressional ethics provisions and anti-money laundering requirements. A Senate procedural vote is now scheduled for September 15 and requires 60 votes to pass.
Future Outlook
On August 18, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed new crypto financing rules, including an annual exemption of US$75 million. The SEC has worked with the CFTC to advance cryptocurrency regulation. As the heads of the two major agencies gather together today, this administration has sent a signal that crypto policy can be advanced through agency action regardless of whether Congress takes action.
Garinhaus attended all important White House encryption meetings in this administration-from the 2025 pre-inauguration dinner to the signing of the GENIUS Act. The president's introduction today adds a new chapter to that record. The outcome of this summit will affect the direction of digital asset policy before the end of 2026.
