USDT0 was launched on the Stellar network to open up cross-chain liquidity
On September 2, 2025, USDT0 was officially activated on the Stellar network. The move connects Stellar blockchain, which focuses on payment scenarios, with Tether's USDT cross-chain liquidity system. An official announcement stated that the deployment adopts LayerZero's "full-chain homogeneous token" standard and has been simultaneously open to use through multiple exchanges, wallets and applications.
Stellar joined the USDT0 Liquidity Network
USDT0 was designed to allow all access networks to share a unified version of Tether dollar tokens without having to establish a separate liquidity pool for each chain. The team said the deployment on Stellar anchors USDT0 in the network's asset model while maintaining connectivity with other ecosystems.
The first access channels listed in theannouncement include: BiLira Kripto, Bitget Wallet, Fireblocks, Freighter, Kraken, Kredete, Lobstr, Meru, Ramp Network and SushiSwap. In addition, Exodus is expected to follow up soon, but this feature is a forward-looking plan and had not yet been officially launched at the time of the announcement.
Payment Scenario Driven Integration
The Stellar network itself focuses on issued assets and cross-border settlements, which makes this deployment natural with payment attributes. The Stellar Development Foundation said that the new USDT0 further improves the network's payment stack. USDT0 co-founder Lorenzo Romagnoli pointed out that developers no longer need to rebuild dollar liquidity separately for each network.
This integration effectively continues a model that has already been applied to payment products. Previously, Stables had introduced USDT0 into Asian payment channels, and the same liquidity model was believed to be effective in reducing chain-to-chain fragmentation.
LayerZero provides cross-chain technical standards
Technical level, this deployment is based on LayerZero OFT standard. USDT0 indicates that the standard avoids presenting assets on Stellar as an unrelated "encapsulated token." However, users still need to rely on deployment contracts, support platforms and eligibility rules when transferring funds.
Stellar is not a new network to which USDT0 has been expanded for the first time. Previously, USDT0 has been deployed on Hedera, which also focuses on connecting new ecosystems to shared liquidity rather than issuing separate US dollar tokens.
Availability is accompanied by clear restrictions
The announcement states that both USDT0 and USDT are issued and managed by third parties and are not operated by the Stellar Development Foundation. At the same time, the use of exchanges and wallets is still subject to the terms of each platform, user qualification requirements and local regulations.
This distinction is critical because technical availability does not mean free use in every jurisdiction. The announcement also pointed out that expectations regarding adoption rates and trading volume are forward-looking statements. As a result, this deployment is more about building infrastructure on Stellar and has not yet proven that it can attract much practical activity.
