Katie Price filed for divorce after her husband's claim of US$50 million in cryptocurrency wealth was exposed as only US$3.

The truth about cryptocurrency wealth was revealed

British television celebrity Katie Price has initiated divorce proceedings with her husband Lee Andrews because the other party's claim of US$50 million in cryptocurrency wealth was actually only 2.22 pounds (approximately US$3).

43-year-old Andrews once told Price that he had a $50 million digital asset portfolio and used it as a basis to prove his financial strength. In support of those claims, he reportedly provided Price with a recovery phrase for his digital wallet to directly view the balance.

On August 31, Price hired a financial expert to verify the wallet. After inspection, it was found that the assets held in the wallet were only 2.22 pounds (about 3 US dollars), which was far from the amount claimed by Andrews.

Price questioned Andrews via WhatsApp and wrote: "I have been played by you, you are not who you say you are. Why did you lie to me?"

The marriage broke down

Price decided to dissolve the marriage shortly after learning the truth about Andrews 'financial situation. She has since sought legal advice in London to initiate formal divorce proceedings.

According to people familiar with the matter, Price believed the marriage was irreparable and called it "completely over."

Andrews is still being held at Dubai's Al Aweil detention centre, facing three separate civil cases. His legal troubles began with his arrest in May 2026, followed by his detention again in July. He has consistently denied all allegations of fraud and financial impropriety.

Timeline of Romance and Legal Status

Price and Andrews reportedly met in January 2026. The relationship developed rapidly, with the couple getting couple tattoos within days and holding an informal wedding in Dubai just 48 hours after announcing their engagement. The original wedding was not legally recognized.

Their marriage was officially legalized at the Abu Dhabi judiciary on February 17, so the divorce requires formal legal procedures.

Who is Lee Andrews?

Andrews, from Nottingham County, has always portrayed himself as a wealthy entrepreneur and has lived in Dubai for more than two decades. On social media, he shared photos of alleged interactions with celebrities such as Elon Musk and Kim Kardashian. Multiple reports have found that these images are suspected to have been generated by AI, further raising questions about the authenticity of his claims.

He claims to be the CEO of "Aura Group Future Urban Travel 2027" and claims to hold shares in companies such as SpaceX Hybrid Fitness. But the authenticity of these commercial projects has not been independently confirmed.

In May 2026, Andrews disappeared for two weeks, further escalating his legal problems. He initially said the disappearance was arrested on charges of espionage, but later said it stemmed from a private civil dispute involving outstanding debts. He was released in June, but was arrested again in July. He currently faces three civil lawsuits in Dubai.

Relevant review showed that the cryptocurrency wallet provided by Andrews never held more than $14490 in any 24 hours, and the money was withdrawn on the same day it was received. No blockchain records or wallet addresses have been released to directly verify these findings.

Price did not wear his wedding ring during his recent public appearance at Manchester Pride Festival. She has publicly stated that she will not fund any legal fees or bail for Andrews while in custody.
