Bybit's derivatives trading volume increased by 14.9% month-on-month in August, ranking among the top three in the industry.
September 16, 2026, Dubai-According to the latest Centralized Exchange (CEX) Activity Report released by CoinDesk Research, Bybit's derivatives trading volume increased by 14.9% in August to US$321 billion. With this strong performance, Bybit continues to consolidate its position among the top three global cryptocurrency trading venues.
In terms of spot trading, Bybit accounted for 5.26% of the market share in August, ranking first among its major competitors in terms of trading volume. This growth is due to the broad recovery of the entire CEX industry in August 2026. During the month, total trading volume on centralized exchanges climbed 12.7% to US$4.29 trillion, successfully recovering from the multi-year low set in July. Among them, the spot market led the gains, with an increase of 18.7%, while the overall CEX derivatives trading volume also increased by 11.3%.
In August, crypto asset prices rose across the board. Stimulated by surprise announcements by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent aimed at driving down Treasury yields, Bitcoin (BTC) rebounded from about $63,000 at the beginning of the month to hit a three-month high on August 25, breaking the $80,000 mark. However, spot prices fell back at the end of the month due to hawkish remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole seminar. Despite this, BTC achieved a monthly increase of 25.4%, the largest monthly increase since November 2024.
The report pointed out that August also witnessed the trading volume of real-world asset (RWA) perpetual contracts reaching a record high. The category continues to expand steadily in 2026, with industry-wide RWA perpetual contract trading volume reaching a record high of US$602 billion in August, indicating that tokenized real-world assets are increasingly popular among derivatives traders. Bybit TradFi Perpetuals product, launched earlier this year, now supports more than 250 trading pairs, covering traditional financial assets such as stocks, commodities and global ETFs.
