ADA Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson warns users that the official YouTube channel of the Input Output Group (IOG) has been hacked and a fake airdrop scam has occurred.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson issued an urgent warning pointing out that fraudulent cryptocurrency airdrops occurred during the live broadcast of the hacked official YouTube channel of the Input Output Group (IOG). Scammers use AI-generated Hoskinson videos and deceptive QR codes to induce viewers to send assets in exchange for the promise of "double return."
According to relevant reports, the Cardano network and user wallets are currently maintaining a secure state. IOG is working closely with YouTube to restore control of channels and remove offending content.
Hackers use AI to forge videos to commit fraud
According to a post posted by Hoskinson on Platform X (formerly Twitter), unauthorized persons hacked into the account and began playing misleading videos containing deeply forged images of him. He explained that IOG is working with YouTube to remove the content and reset channel access credentials. In addition, Hoskinson strongly advises users not to trust any videos from affected accounts and not to click on or open the links displayed therein.
IOG then issued a separate security bulletin instructing community members to avoid following the team's YouTube channel until control is restored. The organization also explicitly warned users not to scan QR codes in relevant links, not to send cryptocurrency, and not to provide personal information through related websites.
