SUI AlphaFi is shutting down its DeFi business on Sui due to bad debt caused by a misconfiguration of the oracle
AlphaFi is gradually scaling down its DeFi operations based on the Sui network due to an under-mortgage situation on AlphaLend due to a misconfiguration of the oracle involving ALPHA tokens. The misconfiguration of the ALPHA oracle affected the collateral calculation in the lending market, causing AlphaLend to generate bad debts. Fortunately, with the support of the Sui Foundation, this gap has been completely filled, thus protecting depositors 'funds from losses.
As AlphaFi enters maintenance mode, new deposit and loan features have been disabled. Currently, users can still make repayments and withdrawals to close positions and remove assets from the agreement.
AlphaLend once owned more than US$100 million in supply assets
This shutdown is only weeks away from AlphaLend's asset supply exceeding US$100 million. At the time, the assets supported by the agreement included SUI, stablecoins and bitcoin-related assets, and its lending market also supported Sui native tokens including WAL and DEEP. At previous peak growth periods, the total locked value of AlphaFi's entire ecosystem reached US$160 million, of which AlphaLend was US$86 million, stSUI was US$46 million, and revenue treasury was US$28 million. In addition, the agreement also reported that AlphaFi and AlphaLend had more than 50,000 monthly active users during this period.
