ETH Ethereum Foundation: Glamestead upgrade and development of EIP-7928 are coming to an end
Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter recently reported that the upgrade of Glamestead and the development of EIP-7928 that introduces Block-Level Access Lists are nearing completion. Wahrstätter expressed confidence in the current progress and emphasized that significant breakthroughs have been made in various technologies as the project approaches key milestones.
Testnet deployment schedule
After continued devnet testing, Glamsterdamm's first public testing is about to begin. Developers have set the fork time for the Sepolia test network for October 6, 2026, and the main network launch plan is scheduled to be in the fourth quarter of 2026. Currently, the exact date has not yet been finally confirmed.
Wahrstätter described Glamsterdam as one of Ethereum's most important hard forks to date and pointed out that its long development cycle stems from the extremely ambitious project scope. He believes the final result will prove that the effort put in by the team and the community is worth it.
Core Objectives and Technical Features
This upgrade aims to enhance Ethereum's expansion capabilities and open up a new era for the network. Its main goals include implementing parallel processing to accelerate transaction processing, increase overall capacity, and enhance network sustainability by curbing database bloat.
