This leads to the most important rule in this section: between Ethereum and BNB Chain, the address format does not protect you. At present, you must proactively select the network specified by the recipient. After sending the BEP20 to the Ethereum address, the balance will appear on the BNB Chain under that address. If you control the private key, you can usually retrieve it by adding BNB Chain to your wallet. If the address belongs to an exchange, it can only be processed by its customer service department, which may take time or fail.

The true cost of a BEP20 transfer today

It is better to measure it yourself than quote estimates. The basic data comes from BNB Smart Chain block 124,336,541 dated September 27, 2026. This block contains 125 transactions, 20 of which are sent to USDT contracts. We individually read transaction receipts for 11 of them.

Consumption measured

Gas consumption is 29,715, 34,515, or 51,627 units. The lower value belongs to the recipient who already holds the USDT, and the higher value belongs to the recipient for whom the contract must first create a new storage slot. Effective Gas prices range from 0.10 to 0.11 gwei;1 gwei is one billionth of BNB. The base cost for this block is zero.

Convert to euros

18 位小数的陷阱：USDT 在 BNB Chain 上的计数方式不同

即使是经验丰富的用户也常常不知道这个怪癖，它经常引起一时的恐慌。我们直接在 BNB Chain 上查询了 USDT 合约：它报告的名称为 Tether USD，代码为 USDT，且有 18 位小数。而在 Tron 和 Ethereum 上，同一代币只有 6 位小数。

Trust Wallet is the most searched application for BNB Chain in German-speaking countries and has the network built-in. MetaMask requires one more click, but has broader support in decentralized applications. Always keep some BNBs

Although the fee is minimal, no transaction can be sent without a BNB in the account. The equivalent of two to three euros is enough to make hundreds of transfers. Many users send tokens onto the chain only to find that they cannot be manipulated.

Read BscScan: Checking status, token transfers and authorizations

BscScan is BNB Chain's block browser, which is the search engine for everything that happens on the chain. You should be able to find the following three things:

Did my transfer succeed?

Enter the transaction hash or your address. A success notice with a block number can end a customer service discussion claiming otherwise. Blocks appear at a rate of one per second, so long waits rarely point to network congestion.

What has been moved?

The token transfer tab states which contract records which amount. Check the contract address, not the name. Anyone can assign a name, but not an address.

What have I approved?

Counterfeit tokens

Anyone can create a BEP20 contract with a well-known token name. When searching for code in an application, you often get multiple results. What matters is the contract address from your independent trusted source, not the order in the search results.

Revoke authorization: Why old permissions are still an open door

Authorizations will not expire just because you no longer open the application. If the contract is later taken over, or someone discovers a loophole in it, the old authority will be enough to clear your balance. You don't need to click on anything for this, which is why the owner's wallet that has been inactive for months but has been constantly empty remains running.

The entire process takes five minutes. Open the authorization overview for your address on BscScan, browse the list and revoke anything you don't actively need. Each revocation is itself a transaction that costs a fraction of a cent. Fixed dates twice a year are sufficient.

What is left of BE P2 and the beacon chain?

One point still appears in older guides and misleads you today. In addition to smart chains, there was once a BNB Beacon Chain, which had its own standard BEP2, which could be identified by an address beginning with bnb1 . The chain has been closed;BNB Chain lists it completed under the "Fusion" heading under its website and provides a tool to recover affected tokens.
