ZEC Grayscale submits a proposal to the SEC for a ZCSH high-yield ETF aimed at providing bi-weekly dividends.
Grayscale Investments has formally submitted a proposal to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a new product called the "ZCSH High Income ETF"(ZCSH High-Yield Exchange-Traded Fund). The asset manager, which focuses on cryptocurrency investment vehicles, designed this actively managed fund to provide investors with regular income through options operations on Zcash-related exchange-traded products (ETP).
Fund goal: Achieve biweekly income distribution
The core strategy of the ZCSH High Income ETF is to create returns for investors by collecting option royalties. The fund's operating model is similar to the Covered-Call Strategy, using option contracts linked to Zcash financial instruments. The royalties generated by selling these options will be distributed to investors every two weeks.
According to filings filed with the SEC, the new fund will not directly hold ZEC (Zcash's native cryptocurrency), nor will it maintain digital asset wallets or manage private keys. Instead, the ETF will indirectly retain exposure to ZEC price fluctuations through derivative options based on Zcash ETPs, including Grayscale's existing ZCSH ETF.
Although this covered call strategy can provide a stable income stream, there are corresponding trade-offs. If the price of Zcash rises significantly and exceeds the exercise price of the option, potential capital appreciation gains will be limited because the fund is obligated to sell the assets at the price agreed in the contract.
