Monad sets a new weekly trading record
During the period from August 17 to August 23, 2026, Monad processed 34,907,146 transactions, setting a new weekly trading record. This number marks important progress for the network. Since its main online launch at the end of 2025, Monad has been accumulating development momentum in a low-key manner.
The network is developing strongly
While transaction volume has reached a milestone, the total locked position value (TVL) of Monad Network has also increased significantly. As of late August, Monad's TVL had reached US$947 million, with liquidity providers and partnerships working together to drive this growth. This figure is a significant increase from approximately US$355 million earlier this year, but it has grown by more than 55% since February, making Monad the fastest among the many Layer 1 networks launched recently to reach a US$300 million TVL.
Monad's network design is the core reason why it is able to handle such large-scale transaction volume. Monad is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain that can process up to 10,000 transactions per second with nearly zero fees and is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It achieves this performance by processing multiple transactions in parallel, making it much faster than rival blockchains.
Major DeFi protocols have noticed this. Platforms such as Uniswap, Curve and Morpho are all deployed on Monad's infrastructure. Recently, SoFi's USD stablecoin was launched on Monad via BitGo, marking the first stablecoin issued by Bank of America to expand to the network.
Macroscopic background of $MON
The record-setting trading week coincided with an overall recovery in $MON market activity. MON continued its upward trend, with the token price rising from approximately US$0.020 to above US$0.029, an increase of more than 44% in the week ended August 24. This round of gains was partly due to a liquidity program by the Monad Foundation. An announcement on August 18 confirmed that the foundation will purchase locked MON worth up to $60 million from some early investors.
Looking to the future, a planned token unlock remains the focus of attention. Approximately 6.66 billion MONs allocated to investors, team members and Category Labs vaults are expected to be unlocked, and these tokens are worth approximately $182 million at current prices. The next unlock is scheduled to take place on November 24, 2026.
For now, the volume of 34.9 million transactions per week is the clearest sign of the real and growing demand for Monad's parallel execution layer.
