ZEC and XMR privacy coin battle: Who will win in 2026?
In the past 30 days, ZEC and XMR have been among the most prominent currencies on the market, both achieving double-digit price increases. ZEC is still the leader in privacy coins, so we want to know whether it can hold on to its throne by the end of 2026 or will it be replaced by other competitors. The following are the views of three mainstream AI chat bots on this issue.
ZEC has great advantages
As of now, Zcash's market value has exceeded US$14 billion, ranking 10th in the market value of cryptocurrencies. ChatGPT believes that based on multiple factors, ZEC is expected to maintain its leading position in its segment by the end of 2026.
First, the model points out that ZEC has better accessibility on exchanges and has been launched on mainstream platforms such as Binance and Coinbase. In contrast, its biggest competitor, XMR, was removed from the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange in 2024 and has never been listed on Coinbase. "This provides ZEC with deeper liquidity and also facilitates the entry of speculative funds and institutional capital," ChatGPT said.
Another positive development is the launch of the first Zcash ETF. The product is issued by Gray Scale and converts existing trusts into exchange-traded funds. The financial product was launched on August 25, and the market heat before the release pushed ZEC prices to soar to a historical peak of more than US$870. In the following days, ZEC's volatility intensified, briefly hitting a new high of nearly $890 and falling back to the current $847 (Source: CoinGecko).
It is worth noting that ChatGPT also praised XMR as a "powerful privacy product" but believes that its probability of reaching the top of the privacy coin ranking by the end of 2026 is only 33%, while ZEC has a 65% chance of remaining first.
Perplexity also listed Zcash tokens as the first choice in this field and commented specifically on XMR: "Monero is almost certainly still the first choice for users seeking extreme privacy, but in the current regulatory environment, its price trend and market accessibility will be difficult to surpass ZEC before the end of the year."
More supporting opinions
Google's Gemini agrees with the above AI point of view. It pointed out that the existence of the ZEC ETF can attract Wall Street money and make it difficult for XMR to catch up. In addition, Gemini mentioned that the current market value gap between the two is close to $5 billion. "For Monero to overtake Zcash by the end of 2026, a huge increase will be needed to overcome obstacles such as the removal of centralized exchanges, insufficient point-to-point liquidity, and ZEC's lead with institutional ETF funds. With only a few months left, XMR must grow at a rate far faster than ZEC-a situation that is almost impossible to happen unless there is an unexpected regulatory adjustment,"Gemini concluded.
