The actual mechanism for weekend pricing
Here are the details that distinguish this contract from typical crypto trading pairs. Traditional foreign exchange markets are usually closed from 17:00 on Friday to 17:00 on Sunday. During this period, the price calculation method will completely change.
Trading window and price calculation method:
- Regular session (Sunday 17:00 ET-Friday 17:00 ET): Updated every second based on weighted average prices from third-party foreign exchange data providers.
- Weekends and holidays: Based on the moving average of the platform's own order book.
This switching ensures that contracts can be traded around the clock even when the underlying money market itself is stationary.
New federal exemptions for tokenized stocks
In addition, regulators issued a measure known as the "innovation exemption" on September 17, which is directly integrated into this week's broader Binance exchange news cycle. The exemption grants temporary relief, allowing approved trading venues (called TSVs) to use the on-chain liquidity pool to trade tokenized versions of common U.S. stocks.
