Strategy purchased 950 bitcoins between September 14 and 20
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) disclosed in a regulatory filing on Monday that it purchased 950 bitcoins between September 14 and September 20 for approximately US$75.7 million, with an average price of US$79,670 each. The purchase, recorded on Form 8-K on September 21, was the company's first purchase since increasing its holdings of 4,603 bitcoins at the end of August, bringing its total holdings to 846,000 bitcoins.
Procurement and Treasury Details
As of September 20, Strategy held 846,000 bitcoins, with a total acquisition cost of US$63.8 billion and an average price of US$75,416. The company values Bitcoin reserves at approximately $68.7 billion and reports its dollar reserves at $5.04 billion and cash and cash equivalents at $1.05 billion. During the week, the company did not sell any shares through the at-the-market offering program, which means its latest Bitcoin purchase was entirely funded by cash on hand.
Ends three-week accumulation pause
This purchase of 950 bitcoins ends Strategy's three-week accumulation pause. Previously, the company's 4,603 Bitcoin purchases reported on August 31 were its first acquisition after a two-month hiatus (suspension period). In the intervening weeks, the company carried out preferred stock buybacks and sold some Bitcoin in early 2026, making this week's disclosure a return to the company's efforts to increase treasury reserves.
Preferred stock repurchase continues
Meanwhile, Strategy spent US$174 million to repurchase 1,771,238 Series A perpetual growth preferred shares (STRC) during the week. The company still has $875.1 million in line under the Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program and $1 billion in line under the Class A Common Stock (MSTR) Repurchase Program. During this period, the company did not repurchase any MSTR, STRK, STRF or STRD shares.
Weak yields
This document continues the trend of weaker performance of Strategy's key indicators. The company reported that the year-to-date bitcoin yield is minus 11.7%, and the cumulative annual yield is minus 3.6%. These data reflect the trend of bitcoin prices falling from their highs at the beginning of the year. Still, Strategy's 846,000 bitcoin reserves remain the largest treasury of corporate assets, and the company continues to use cash rather than new shares to fund purchases and repurchase operations.
