Euro token issued by Stripe's Bridge
EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin, is now available to users in Denmark, Poland and Portugal through Revolut. This on-chain euro is issued to approximately 2 million users, who can use it as legal tender or cryptocurrency. EURR was created by Bridge, a company owned by Stripe.
Revolut is withdrawing Tether's USDT from the market to comply with EU MiCA regulations.
The EURR token was created by Bridge Building S.A. in Luxembourg. Bridge is a stablecoin infrastructure company that Stripe acquired in February 2025 for $1.1 billion. The token is provided through Revolut Digital Assets Europe and is backed by Bridge's reserves managed in accordance with EU MiCA regulations.
A spokesman for Revolut said the three markets were selected as the initial launch "based on their market size," adding that the first batch covered approximately 2 million customers. The first blockchain to support EURR is Ethereum. Revolut said EURR will also launch other networks and support transfers to external wallets. The spokesperson said that these outbound transfer functions are currently open to some customers and will expand "as liquidity increases."
EURR tokens will appear next to retail app users 'regular balances. There are no fees for fiat transactions, but Revolut's regular cryptocurrency transaction and remittance limits apply.
Emil Urmanshin, head of cryptocurrency at Revolut, said: "EURR connects 80 million Revolut customers directly to on-chain finance." He added that companies could combine "licensed banking infrastructure with instant euro-denominated access to the crypto ecosystem."

Fill the gap left by the USDT
Revolut is removing Tether's USDT from the European Economic Area and Switzerland. The fintech company will convert any remaining USDT balances held by users into the base currency after August 31. The removal was due to Revolut's compliance adjustments based on its own MiCA crypto asset service provider license. The license was issued by the Cyprus regulator CySEC and does not allow stablecoins whose online issuers have not yet applied for MiCA approval.
Coinbase removed USDT for European users in December 2024, and Kraken, Crypto.com and OKX also removed it in early 2025.
Revolut said EURR is the "first step" in its broader stablecoin strategy. The company plans to expand its services to the entire European Economic Area later this year when products, operations and regulations are ready. The company is also developing tokens pegged to other currencies through multiple regulatory paths.
Last month, Revolut connected its Revolut X exchange to Claude and Gemini. Its U.S. business unit hopes to provide stablecoin services in planned U.S. banks.
